Hello.
First of all, sorry about my bad English. But I hope you understand my questions.

I would like to upgrade my computer with new hardware:

Motherboard: ASUS M3A78-EH (http://www.asus.com/products.aspx?l1=3&l2=149&l3=639&l4=0&model=2130&modelmenu=2) with an AMD-Athlon 64 X2 5000+ or 5600+ CPU. On ecomstation.ru (http://en.ecomstation.ru/hardware.php?action=item&id=1481) I read: APM functions OK, superior sound quality (ALC883) in AC97 mode (BIOS) with latest Universal Audio Driver, Gigabit LAN (RTL8111B/C?) works fine with RTL8169 Driver v.1.12., USB 2.0 works fine. But there no infos about ACPI and SATA. The Chipset is an AMD 780G/SB700.

Video-card: GigaByte RX26P512H with an ATI RADEON HD 2600 PRO (http://www.gigabyte.com.tw/Products/VGA/Products_Spec.aspx?ProductID=2589). According to the description works the GPU with PANORAMA. I have an NEC-MultiSync LCD1700V (1280x1024, 16M, 60Hz Monitor.

Can be work this with eComStation 2.0 RC5 Installation?

So long, and greetings from Germany
Rolf

Hi Rolf

The possible bad news is the chipset involved as ACPI support  - needed if you want to use more than 1 cpu core - seems to be a bit lacking for AMD/ATI chipsets at the moment.

Not sure if the current ACPI package (v3.10 - later than the RC5 package) improves on that support... Guess you could install RC5 then update the ACPI drivers and see how it all works - or not.

It might be worth your time investigating ACPI support here http://svn.netlabs.org/acpi/ - click on the View Tickets link

The HD2600 graphics card should be supported by both SNAP and Panorama; you would need to set SNAP to use VBE (VESA) mode rather than the accelerated driver though.

Hope the above is of use.

Hello Pete,
Thanks for your answer.
In other Forums I read, that ASUS-Boards are not good working with ACPI.
So I decide to buy an Gigabyte GA-MA770-DS3.
I hope I have luck with this Board and ACPI ::)
So long
