icons with an X overlay
« on: March 02, 2026, 10:04:47 pm »
I'm attaching a photo of a screen where the icons have been decorated with a kind of X in the lower right corner. (see attachment)

What does it mean, and how do I get normal icons back?

Do you have xwp shadow icons enabled???

What you are seeing is the default ArcaOS shadow icons. When enabled, it only shows when Dynamic icons are not enabled also.

In the forum under

I had created a few alternatives.

To disable, do the following:

Open system setup folder
Click on the Workplace Shell icon
Select the Folder View tab
Uncheck the Mark Shadows box
Close the WorkplaceShell Properties
Restart desktop
