Just installed Dooble Qt5 using ANPM. Seems like all libraries are in place but Dooble won't start.
No trap file and nothing in popuplog, ideas anyone?

Often, when a program doesn't start, missing DLLs but this can be seen or not enough shared memory below 512M needed to load dlls
Try setting Dooble QT5 dlls to be loaded high, use mem /V command to check: Shared low memory available size

Funny thing is that I had it running a few months back without loading any DLL's high.
Is there a list of needed DLL's somewhere?

Tried PM DLL but it hangs forever with "Building tree..................".

Hi Per

I had a similar problem recently see  https://www.os2world.com/forum/index.php?topic=3858.msg97576

I downloaded and installed

  ftp://dry@ftp.os2voice.org/tmp/dooble-2025-02-28-Qt5.zip

  ftp://dry@ftp.os2voice.org/tmp/Qt5libs-2025-01-09.zip

  ftp://dry@ftp.os2voice.org/tmp/Qt5WebC.7z

Try installing one of the RPM packages such as ftp://dry@ftp.os2voice.org/rpm/dooble-2024.11.23-1.oc00.pentium4.rpm which will pull in all needed DLL's, then you can test that build, if everything is fine, just replace the binary with the newer one.
Need to figure out what broke here for building the RPM's, get sys1808's IIRC so a native program instead of a port being called.

Per E. Johannessen

Thanks but still no success.
First I installed the files Pete suggested but Dooble won't start,
then I installed ftp://dry@ftp.os2voice.org/rpm/dooble-2024.11.23-1.oc00.pentium4.rpm and still Dooble won't start,
not the older one nor the newer one.

Have you looked in popuplog.os2? Try starting it as "dooble 2>&1 | tee dooble.log" and see if anything gets written to dooble.log and if so post it.

Per E. Johannessen

Nothing in popuplog.os2

Output from dooble 2>&1 | tee dooble.log:
---
[G:\USR\BIN]dooble 2>&1 | tee dooble.log
qt.qpa.plugin: Could not load the Qt platform plugin "os2" in "" even though it
was found.
This application failed to start because no Qt platform plugin could be initiali
zed. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem.

Available platform plugins are: offscreen, os2, minimal.

qos2.dll exists in x:\usr\lib\qt5\plugins\platforms\

Dave Yeo

You haven't lxlited qos2.dll have you? Anyways try reinstalling it, otherwise there's something else wrong with your Qt5 install or perhaps more stray DLL's somewhere on your system.
For everyone else, don't lxlite any of the Qt plugins, there's metadata that can be lost.

Per E. Johannessen

I don't know if I've ever lxlited anything but I now reinstalled qos2.dll and Dooble starts.

However, there is a problem displaying text.
At https://www.os2world.com/cms/ only "OS/2 World.Com" is displayed in upper left corner.
Frames are displayed OK but text is displayed as blue lines.

Read something about fonts needed, but cannot remember where. Not in the readme.
Anyone knows?

Dave Yeo

Try going to Edit-->Settings, the Web button and scroll down to the fonts section and see what is being used. Here it is various Bitsream fonts for most. Try clicking the Reset button then the Apply button, you might have to restart the browser, and see if the listed fonts change or if it helps os2world.

Per E. Johannessen

Helvetica, Courier and Times New Roman were used here, except for Fixed: Courier I changed the other fonts to Bitstream Charter and now
Dooble seems to work fine, at least with os2world.com.
