Wikipedia describes the New Yorker
The New Yorker is a prestigious American magazine known for its journalism, commentary, fiction, satire, cartoons, and poetry.
The New Yorker was founded on February 21, 1925, by Harold Ross and his wife Jane Grant, a reporter for The New York Times, with the support of entrepreneur Raoul H. Fleischmann. Initially focused on New York City’s social and cultural life, it quickly expanded to cover literature, current affairs, and global topics, gaining a reputation for sophisticated humor, in-depth reporting, and literary excellence.
The magazine has cartoon illustrations interspersed. They aren't associated with any article. Roz Chast is their most famous living cartoonist, but in the past, they have featured work of Charles Addams, James Thurber and many others. Having work accepted by the New Yorker is considered the highest honor a cartoon artist can achieve.
