Is there more interest to package other software ? Did anybody test the the CWMM upgrade package with Timidity, Mplayer and SMplayer ?

I would like to see more software packages added. I would like to see FM/2 added to the WPI releases. It would need to be noted English version only since there are no other language versions.

Hi Roderick,

Yes, I have installed all the packages from the OS2Voice WPI repo successfully. More is always better! The one I think would be good to add is Open Office (since BWW doesn't support it any more) if it were made available.

Hi Roderick,

So far I did not use that repo. But would it be possible to upload ported software? And what if a package is newer than e.g. a netlabs package?
Also I read that WarpIn can now reference RPM packages somehow. Is there some kind of howto for that?

Hi Roderick, installed CWMM-0-3-1-0.wpi and ArcaOS_MMOS2updater-1-0-0-01.wpi , now multimedia audio/video works including midi files.
A little weirdness occours in my ANPN 1.12 after selected "install" on the wanted package: an empty panel (no question text) display the offer "OK" or "Quit" , guessing that it is a confirmation if I really want that, and by "OK" the installation begins.
Have a question: does the selected package go to some local folder before deploying or it just works from remote only targeting the installation on the system?
Thank you

Hello

My feedback is that "ArcaOS_MMOS2updater-1-0-0-01.wpi" was a great idea. It became a must have for me on my system.

Thanks Martin. That is what I hooped for. People should not be looking on Hobbes to figure this stuff out and just click install the update.
There is no problem with hobbes its just to much digging for most people.

All of this grew organically. I want to keep rpmnetlabs.org being updated by the people who that that is Dmitry, Silvan and Elbert Pol. rpm.netlabs.org is the basis for most DLL's we use on OS/2/ArcaOS with GCC compiled programs and development tools.

rpm.os2voice.org is more for the end user softwarw that never made into rpm.netlabs.org.
A good example is open transport tycoon or Multimedia CWMM WPI file.

If you want to see how you can reference RPM packages from a Warpin package:
https://rpm.os2voice.org/warpin/release/Open_Transport_Tyccoon_141.WPI
Run from \sys\install\warpin wic.exe from the command line. You can then extract the WIS file and any of the CMD files use the -x and -X option.
Then you can see how you can do dependency checking from Warpin.

When people make packages I can make an account for you on https://rpm.os2voice.org/upload/.
I am however reserved to put every script and every program in the Warpin repo. This is to prevent to get people from getting dozens of files and not being able to have a clear overview
what can be installed.

Hello Roderick

I want to create some little RPM installers for some old freeware that I use. But I require some guidance to know if I'm creating the package right.

For example, I created this RPM installer for Diunpack. (diunpack.exe and di.exe). It is very simple.
But I don't know if should put it as "pentium 4" in architecture.

I know this subject is not exactly creating new software or ports, but I want to have a place (rpm.os2voice.org) to have some of this little packages that I use and I would like to have all this installer with a single command line.

Or is the idea for the rpm.os2voice.org just having gcc compiled software on the rpm?

I have mixed feelings about it. I do not want to endup with rpm.netlabs.org with dozens of files where the user cannot find the content. Maybe the concern should not apply to RPM since you search in RPM repo's. The Warpin repo is different as that currently does not have file content information in its file format.  Should every small tool be packaged is the question ?

Hello

I think the answer is no. Just package what the people uses and need. Also if there are people willing to do the rpm package.
Since I use DIUNPACK, this is why I want to have it on RPM to install it easily by the command line on my systems.

For RPM packages this should be possible now that I think of it. In ANPM you can choose groups I do not know how you can setup different categories in an RPM repository.
