Can anyone recommend a good free PM-based front-end for eCS? I use it a lot when I program and need something that works. I've tried what's on hobbes and most of them lock up or don't have features I need. Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Sean
You might try ZipControl (its not free, but does give you a free trial period to see if its got what you're looking for)!
http://www.rpfsoftware.com -- Its Java based so it'll run on any platform that has JAVA installed.
I usually use eZip, which though isnt perfect, is pretty damn good. The only complaint I have with it is that when dragging files from it to a folder, you have to hold the mouse (and button) down until you get the dragged icons (which will take however long it takes to decompress the file to a temp directory). There are other options from within the Zip Shell to extract which dont delay what you are doing, but drag-n-drop is the easiest.
You can find it (and other apps) here:

I use FM/2. It includes a generic frontend so you can configure as many archivers as you like. And Drag and Drop works sin both directions.
I just use Object Desktops archivers which melt seamlessly into the desktop and which I purchased way back.
That's right, OD was commercial software, but has long since been discontinued.
You can find a copy of it floating around on the Internet easily enough.
Though I'd just like to say, for the record, that I can not condone such a practice...
... Ahmm...
::) :o
I love AF/2 (Archive Folder). It is purely a front end for whatever archiver you use. AF/2 takes a little tweaking of the .BB2 file to get it to work with the latest info-zip versions. But it is HIGHLY customizable and integrates well with the WPS. It's getting a bit long in the tooth but still a worthy archive handler.
