| Fresh MCP2 install on a new R51 fails at the initial boot to OS/2 with a Trap D as follows: Exception in module: The system detected an internal processing error at 078606d6 I can boot to the command line on this R51 at that point with <ALT F1>. From there, I can acutally get briefly to the Desktop and see the initial install Desktop by simply entering the command PMSHELL at C:\. Which then is quickly followed by the 'standard' OS/2 install screen and we're right back at the CD-ROM install at the Desktop screen.
Thanks! |

| A TP R51 can have Intel or ATI radeon 9000 video chipset, If it is the Radeon there is a issue with gradd video support. Svga gradd is the video driver in use after a few passes of the MCP installer. This issue was found in eCom 1.1 and corrected in eCS 1.2 due to included gradd fixes that occured after MCP2 was released. I had a very similar experience with my Dell D600. The MCP2 disk would need to be updated with the latest gradd drivers and fixpacks or better yet, Get eCS 1.2 and save yourself the cost of passport, Lack of future support from IBM and the effort.. Scitech IBM edition would fix the problem if you could maintain the shell long enough to install it... |

| I had a problem similar to what you describe. I managed to install MCP2 successfully by choosing VGA (and nothing but VGA). After finishing the installation I installed Snap. Hope this helps. So long. Thomas |

Comment the APM driver. I had a similar problem with a R52 and that solved the problem for me. Easy and quick.. Leonardo Pino |
