| I'm thinking of installing Warpzilla 1.7.x and the system requirements state I must have certain minimum versions of various files. I've searched thru the OS/2 docs and can't find the way to find what version I have of the following files/packages: sockets.sys afos2.sys afinet.sys MPTS TCP/IP For the life of me I recall there is a simple way to find this info but I sure don't remember it. Any help much appreciated. (BTW, I'm running Warp 4 (FP15) with java 1.1.8) Pete |

| The installation instructions say that the versions needed for these files are: SOCKETS.SYS=5.3007, AFOS2.SYS=5.3001, AFINET.SYS=5.3006 or higher To see what you have, enter the command "INETVER" on the command line. If you have an MCP version of OS/2, or any version of eCS, you should have the correct TCP/IP levels. The instructions also say not to use lower versions. I've seen lots of reports that Mozilla does work with earlier versions of TCP/IP (such as the 16bit stack). And others who report that it works, but, they have occasional strange problems. So, if you don't have the latest TCP/IP, it may be worth trying Mozilla. Also, this restriction came in before Mozilla 1.0 was released, so, if you are just thinking of updating a current Mozilla installation, you are probably OK.

| You can use the command "SYSLEVEL" to find out the version of MPTS and TCPIP. The output can be redirected to a file by adding "> file_name" after command. |

Doing so reveals a Net Services of 4.00, MPTN of 5.10 and TCPIP of 4.00. In light of Dave's comments, do I need upgraded files? Using the "inetver" command, I just get 4.00e. If I do need upgraded files, is this a question of obtaining the files and copying them in or do I need an complete subsystem upgrade? I'd just like to install and run Mozilla - I'd like to keep it simple if at all possible. |

| Yes, you should update. A version of "4.00e" from inetver means you have the 16bit TCP/IP stack. And a very old one at that. From memory it got up to about 4.02y. http://www.warpupdates.mynetcologne.de/english/warpupdates.html has a list of all the details of versions and fixpacks that have been around in the MPTS and TCP/IP sections. It also has links to the fixpacks, though you may need Software Choice (or whatever it's called now) to get the later ones.
