Some info from the readme file:

New Features:
- Preboot harddisk integrity check
- Harddisk volume resizing
- Newest ACPI & APM
- Core Duo CPU support (SMP(!!))
- eComStation Virtual File System (Samba client support)
- Newest eSchemes

Preinstalled Software (optional):
Lucide document viewer, Tame/2 scanning application, LxLite 1.3.3, bzip2, Security/2, 4OS/2, Genmac 2.00 with support for 34 NIC adapters, Wireless LAN monitor 3.00, Added Faxworks, Psi/2, OpenSSH Client

Well, even if it still needs some tweaking (especially the mutually exclusive WiFi and LAN interfaces), I guess I'm in love (again)...

Thanks for drawing attention to the new release. What you write and show makes my heart beat faster too. I didn't install the beta2, but this one I'll definitely try!

I have used both the beta 2 and now the beta 3. I thought 2 was pretty damn good with all the betas I could download. Beta 3 has more working on bootup than I could ever get working with beta 2.

By the way, check Hobbes for the additional new folder icons that I created that go along with the new folder sets found in beta 3.

One needs to look at all the choices availabe during installation. Just don't accept the defaults. I must say that ecs 2.0 beta 3 has come a long way since beta 2.

One thing I like to do is install xwp instead of the enhanced WPS during the install. It has more features and Paul has done an excellent job of fixing bugs in XWP. There are quite a few bugs that are PM related that cannot be fixes due to IBM's refusal to fix anything related to OS/2.

I just wish I had a choice of Seamonkey instead of Firefox and the other choice. I like my internet programs to be integrated.

Just a little report:

I have had my ecs2.0 beta3 up for two days now and bootable JFS is working very good - no longer problems with other JFS partitions. Fast boot.

ACPI was loaded without problems ..but my USB memorystick didn't work, nor did the widget showing power, it showed "AC powered" all the time. A peculiar thing was that Thunderbird messaged "server timed out" on my mailservers all the time, after just half a second, and that Firefox displayed websites, moved to the right, so I just saw half. All tthese problems disappeared when I disabled ACPI.

I've also tested the sambaclient, and it seems to work well. I get my shares in no time, just about in the same time they are mounted, no waiting.

Ok..end of report!

Just a Q: How did you manage to run/use the Samba client? Because I have no idea...

There is a rexx file called rexx.cmd in C:\ecs\DOC\evfs\rexx\. Open that file in textmode and edit it:
1. exchange driveletter to the one you prefer as network drive.

2. exchange mount point from smb to something other you want to call it..or let it be.

3. fill in values of resource: workgroupname, server url, username password. I'm not shure of what you need to fill in, but thats the ones I filled in.

4. Just execute the cmd-file and the resource will be mounted as a resource on your choosen driveletter.

Hope it works for you!

I don't know how to unmount. I think there will be some frontend in the sharp release easier to manage.
