I am looking for one. I have been given the job of updating the web site at work and would like to find an editor that I can use on my OS/2 system as well. I am looking for something up to date, with a preview function. I have been playing with the trial version of CoffeeCup at work and like it alot. I hope someone can recommend something similar but multi-platform. Thanks all.

Hi, I've been using NVU too for quick'n'dirty site building. For bigger jobs I prefer to hand-craft my code, and I like JEdit *A LOT*.

Hope this helps...

Bye

I'm really not a skilled "webbuilder" but I think NVU is working real good, and you have the layerfunctions. If you are used to Dreamweaver it will maybee take a while to come along with it. I used Dreamweaver at a webcourse and NVU at home on the same piece of work and they were quite compatible. Sometimes I use Dreamweaver in win2000 in SVISTA, which works great.

I am going to try N|vu for a couple of weeks now. It seems to be just about what I want. Maybe once I get a handle on things here I can consider jEdit, but for now I am mostly doing updates and editing of pages so this should be more than sufficient. Thank you all.

PS: I had already downloaded it but thought it didn't support javascript. I didn't spend much time experimenting so I missed the "browse" feature. Still, I really wish the javascript worked in preview mode.

Are you kidding? That stuff is completely outdated. Even back then much of it was rubbish that couldn't produce standards compliant pages. Today it will destroy decent code.

The only application out of that list that I still use from time to time is AWE, and even that I use in a limited way - in combination with PPWizard. For a number of the websites that I maintain I've developed my own customized configuration files within AWE and use it as a file editor to quickly edit my source files to produce the stuff to be processed into decent code by PPWizard. But for this you've got to know what you're doing with your code, it isn't (and never was designed to be) a "what you see is what you get" type of editor similar to NVU.

How good is the composer found in either Mozilla or SeaMonkey? I have both on my computer.

I've never used the composer in either, but it should be about the same level as NVU, since it is based on the same code.
