| Hi, Does anyone have any experience of any dial-in services (likely over Modem) for eCS or OS/2? I need to be able to remotely support and/or manage OS/2 systems via modem. The things I am aware of are: Full Packages Comms Only Remote Control Only Can I use any of the remote control only packages with any of the comms clients? Has anyone ever done anything like this? I'll be grateful for any thoughts!! Regards, |

I have been using InJoy as a dialin server. I use it to access a remote OS/2 box that although is on a ADSL account, there are times when I need to dial in to get access because either the ADSL modem has gone troppo, I need to edit some Firewall rules, and so on and so on. It's really a fallback when everthing else fails. One thing that I have learnt is to have the dial up on it own network. By that I mean I have used MPTS to install a NULL MAC interface [lan2 in my case] and put on Injoy on that network. This way all ARP's and routing is correctly setup prior to the establishing a dial in connection. Of course you need to set the routing up, but it's trivial to do. Once I have a dial up established I use VNC to do what ever I need to do, slow, real slow of course compared to my normal 512mb connection, but it does allow me to get access to the remote OS/2 box and it does work very well.
For my purpose I setup Injoy to issue the static IP, DNS and default route. I do use either WInXP and Win98 to dial into the OS/2 box. Again, it works well for me.
I use the WinXX VNC client and as I say, all works well, slow but useable when all else fails. |

| ISDNPM can also do it and allows callback but I've never used this feature. |
