Hi Cyberspittle

Thanks for all the cool backgrounds you have been making. I have one request if you find time. Can you replace the OS/2 with an eball in your OS/2 crystal background? Or maybe have some eballs floating around your OS/2 text.

I'll need to make the text flat and scroll it up and away. Sounds like a great idea! I've been short on time this weekend, but maybe in the coming week or next weekend.

Hey Tex,

OK, I'm feeling sheepish now. I had forgotten about my crystal ball ... let's look into the future and see what we can ...

I like the ecs crystal jpeg. Thanks!

I was playing around with your marble background. Changed the colors just a little bit and added ecs text. I was primarily experimenting with the text.

Hey DavidG,

Cool. That's awesome. Glad you are having fun. What software did you use to make the mod (modification)? Maybe if enough of us are having fun here, it will help eCS and OS/2.

Unfortunately, I have to use a Windows program, Photoshop Elements 3.0. I have Elements 4, but have found it unusable since Adobe had a stupid idea and removed the browser from the program itself. I must say that I spent my last penny on that program.

By the way, I am both tex and DavidG.

Sounds like a good investment. I am glad that the OS/2 community is benefitting from your work too. Did you know that on Adobe's web site there is a "Product Feature Request Form":

http://www.adobe.com/support/feature.html

Maybe we can get enough OS/2 and eCS users to request Acrobat Viewer, Flash Player, or Shoclwave Player for eCS (not OS/2, as eCS is actively supported).

DavidG,

I like them both a lot. They have a nice clean look. I wouldn't say that you are a novice. I know how hard it is to come up with an idea and get it to work. Some of my stuff takes a long time. Often I quit, feeling frustrated, and let it simmer in the background. Then the light will come on and I find the solution. Working with POV-Ray is sometimes difficult, as it is a scripting language that the raycaster interprets. Quite often I get unpredicatable results, and have to do something different to get the result I'm after. Anyways, you should post those on ecomstation.org!

For those that liked the Warp 4 Blue rug background.
All my images are done in wide screen 1440x900 since this is what my laptop is.

Thanks BWG! I still consider it unfished. I was trying to do a sunset sky with clouds, but can't get the colors right! It will sit in my working folder until I get time to mess with it. whe I get frustrated, I find the best thing is to let it go for the moment.

That is a pretty comforting wallpaper for people still using OS/2 Warp v4. I really like the WXGA (Wide screen format). My next TV (seen a few decent 32" LCDs with VGA) will probably be next monitor. That way I don't have to worry about a TV card or DVD issues ... both use the same device to output!

You have to keep the wallpaper coming. I've come down with a cold and feel under the weather, especially after putting in a full day at work.

Using the ecswarp.jpg, I have attached a picture of my eCS 2.0 desktop using my grey folder theme which I believe will be included in the next beta release of 2.0.

DavidG,

Both look really nice. They have a clean simply look I like. Your desktop with the grey folders is excellent. I need to start working on icons one of these days. I'm glad your productive this weekend. When I recover from this cold, I need to get busy myself.

Cyberspittle, thanks for the compliment. As you have noticed, my desktop backgrounds are realively simple. I have a problem with coming up with ideals that might be worth using.

You may not want to start on folder icons. Believe me, the work and pain may not be worth the effort. However, once you make your templates, the templates can be used over and over again for different folder themes. The trick is to use a program that uses layers.

Lastly, I have made a few more simple backgrounds. This one is a USA theme.

Hi Melf,

I'm glad you're having some fun too. I like the blurred effect. Also, the universes in the background remind me of some star clusters I saw in an astronomy class. We need a new forum here at os2world for us!

One thing I did notice on your JPG, was the resolution ... 1 pixel shy on height and width (1023x767 ... not 1024x76. Any reason for the odd size?

Inferiority complex I guess....No I really don't know. PG PRo renders the preset area and if it is not totally filled, picture gets a white frame and if you cut that away, the picture gets a little smaller. I think thats why. You're right, making backgrounds is really quite fun! When you say a new forum, do you mean like an art gallery as the one David G linked to?

I had forgot about site. I just saw a video with David Barnes on the internet archive (.org I think). He was in one of the Computer Chronicles with Stewert Chiefet. A search on the site for OS/2 comes up with a number of shows, one including a 1.x version of OS/2.
