Trying to install Netscape Communicator 4.6 on Netfinity with Warp 4.0 installed. Get the error message " Cannot be Installed Fix pack 5 is required " Cannot find this fix pack 5 on web. Not even sure if it is a fix pack from Ibm or Netscape. Found various updates for warp 4 but none mentioned fix pack 5. Would appreciate some guidance. Thanks |

Here is a link to a handful of OS/2 Warp 4 fixpacks - the latest (no charge) FP for OS/2 Warp 4 is FP 15: http://www.os2site.com/sw/upgrades/warp4/index.html |

Thank you for replies. Sorry for so long in answering, but it took me many goes to finally download fp15 onto XP computer where I unzipped it and burnt it to a CD. Ran install.cmd in a full OS2 cmd screen and got Corrective Service Facility The path set CSF CDROM=D: does not exist or is invalid. Then I created a folder on desktop called IBMFP15 and copied the CD to it. Ran install.cmd in a full OS2 cmd screen and got (here is screen print out) [C:\IBMFP15 install.cmd [C:\IBMFP15]set csfutilpath=C:\IBMFP15\FixTool [C:\IBMFP15]set csfcdromdir=C:\IBMFP15 Starting OS/2 Service program... [C:\IBMFP15]cd C:\IBMFP15\FixTool SYSOOO3: The system cannot find the path specified [C:\IBMFP15]SERVICE SYSIO41: The name SERVICE is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file. 13 *-* service; +++ RC(lO41) [C:\IBMFP15] Had created a second folder on desktop called BUFP15 waiting for the backup creation as per Aaron's instructions. I never got that far. Created another folder within IBMFP15 called SERVICE but this had no effect. Further assistance on FP15 fixpack install would be appreciated. |

| Hi, It sounds like something with your fixpak directory structure is messed up, but I could be wrong. First, your F-I directory should be called FIX Rename that directory. Try the install again. If it doesn't work, you may want to try an different version of the CSF utility. Grab the 144 build from (I know this build works with FP15): ftp://service.boulder.ibm.com/ps/products/os2/rsu/csf144.zip Unzip that into its own directory, preserving the directory structure of the ZIP. I generally use the directory: c:\os2serv but you can name it whatever you wish. Change to that directory in an OS/2 command window (note: do Not use full screen!) and type: os2serv c:\os2serv\csf c:\ibmfp15 Of course, modify the directory names to what you've used. It should then start up the "IBM Fixpak Installation XR_M015 utility". It'll search your system for a while and eventually should list something under the "Serviceable products". Select one of those, select the "Advanced" checkbox, and hit "Install". It will then start up the old-fashioned IBM CSF utility that we all know. If this doesn't work, then something is wrong with your fixpak directory, file or directory names may be incorrect. Try unzipping the original FP15.ZIP again, but perhaps instead of unzipping it on XP and copying it to a CD, maybe try unzipping it directly in OS/2. If you need an OS/2 copy of Unzip, you can grab it from Hobbes: http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/cgi-bin/h-search?sh=1&button=Search&key=unz551x2&stype=all&sort=type&dir=/ Hope this helps. |

| When I last ran the fp15.zip, I put in a temporary directory, unzipped it and ran the install script. Maybe unzipping on WinXP and burning to the CD-ROM caused a problem. I don't thinking unzipping on a different OS should be an issue, unless there are extended attributes (EAs) in the fp15.zip. Can you download the f515.zip to a CD-ROM along with an OS/2 unzipper (can be found at Hobbes also). Once you got the unzipper in your PATH, unzip the archive to apply the FixPack. I hope this helps. Too bad you don't have Object Desktop on your Warp 4 system, it includes a whole bunch of archiving tools to make this a whole lot easier. Good luck finding Object Desktop anywhere (Stardock R.I.P.). |

Thank you very much for your replies. I fixed up that F~1 folder to FIX and ran install.cmd again. It got through to about 95% on the progress bar then said " check sum error in C:\ibmfp15\FIX\OS2_1\pmmerge.dl_ " So I wiped everything from the HDD. Copied off cd FP15.zip into new folder IBMFP15 Copied off CD csf144.zip into new folder OS2SERV Copied off CD unz551x2.exe into new folder ZIP In a OS2 Window Ran C:\ZIP\unz551xs.exe and it created more files in ZIP. Ran C:\ZIP\unzip.exe C:\OS2SERV\csf144.zip and it dumped a heap of files into ZIP Ran C:\ZIP\unzip.exe C:\IBMFP15\fpo15.zip and it dumped a heap of files into ZIP Could not work out how to get unzip.exe to unzip into the respective correct foldrers. Anyway ran C:\ZIP\install.cmd and it got to exactly the first point " check sum error in C:\ibmfp15\FIX\OS2_1\pmmerge.dl_ " Well deleted every thing again and downloaded a fresh copy of FP15.zip on a W2K computer and burnt it to CD for loading onto Warp 4 computer. Did all copying, unzipping and execution as above ie C:\ZIP\install.cmd and got the same checksum error. Is it possible there is an error in the FP15.zip file on the internet or am I stuffing things up by doing all the unzipping and execution of the 3 files in the same folder ie ZIP ? How do I unzip to a desired folder. I can then try in an OS2 cmd window os2serv c:\os2serv\csf c:\ibmfp15. After CSF144.zip is unzipped does any program in it have to be run to set up the unzipped file fp15.zip ? |

last updated at 14 Nov, 2006 15:54 (1 times) HiI use the old RSU method, D/L all the files in http://www.os2site.com/sw/upgrades/warp4/fixpack15/zip/ then read http://www.os2site.com/sw/upgrades/warp4/fixpack15/zip/install.txt The reasoning behind the seperate (original) zip files, is its quicker to re download one if its corrupt. OR Download Aarons' fp15.zip from http://www.os2site.com/sw/upgrades/warp4/fixpack15/index.html Not sure if its the same one on hobbes though. Also note this in the readme.1st file. OS2Dump has been split into two versions. If you are installing this fixpak on PS/2 model 9595 machines, use the version located on the last fixpak diskette. Also, if you are running older hardware (486s or early Pentiums), you may wish to use the OS2Dump located on the last fixpak diskette. ie, if using PS/2, say yes to overwrite during unzip. If using modern hardware, say NO to overwrite during unzip.

Sonic Prince. Thanks for your detailed reply. Used the RU method you suggested and it went like a gem.Is there any method to slipstream Warp4/FP15/Netscape onto a single installation cd ? |
