Usually there is no need for any kind of drivers for LPT or COM ISA/PCI cards. I've earlier used a noname board that gave me 2 extra LPT- and as well 2 extra COM-ports without any problem on a WSFeB server. Actually when trying the same board within a workstation it was Windows that had problem to locate the extra LPT-ports /Kim |

| Regarding "No need for drivers" that is only true if you have newish IBM drivers, older IBM drivers only support a subset of available devices and the drivers that come with ecs appear to support only a limited amount of com ports. The newest IBM drivers also have a couple of undocumented switches. Anyway I use a Brainboxes PCI card, these are bloody expencive though but have 1 full 25 pin port (Which I need) will try to post an update as to what chip is used on them (it's obscured by a sticker). Now if only someone would find me a RS442 PCI card with OS/2 support |

| God, I just checked the price of the Brainboxes card on the web it's 150 pounds ! Thats more than expencive, it's outrageous Anyway I took the sticker off the chip, they definetly do not want you to see this, some very strong glue here ! The chips are a standard low cost PLX 9050 PCI interface and a bog standard TI TL16C552FN rs232 interface, so at the least we know that any card using a PLX 9050/9052/9030 PCI interface should work. http://www.plxtech.com/products/9050/default.htm |

| Here is a cheaper manufacturer using the same chip http://www.megapower-int.com.tw MP9050PR2 etc. This appears to sell for about 15% of what is brainboxes are asking for and has a paraell port to boot ...... |
