1. PayPal question

Hi,

is it true that one can only sponsor via PayPal?
Another question, if I want to sponsor a bounty today, do I have to send you the money also today, or later when the bounty is claimed?

Currently the only way that we offer payments to be done via is currently PayPal. But, we could arrange that sponsorships could be paid to a bank account instead. But, I would be afraid that the fees involved would go rather high. For example, if you want to transfer money betwen Sweden and Denmark the fee is 100 SEK - around 12 euro. So in that way PayPal has rather low fees involved.

To sponsor a bounty you have to pay upfront, this is the only way we can make sure that we really have the money to be paid when someone make claim for a bounty.

I'm also open for other suggestions on how to take care of payments to sponsor bounties.

Hi Robert, Kim,

I can offer a money-forwarding service if you want. If Robert thinks I'm a trustable person, he can send the money to my company account here in Germany (that I would mail him in a personal mail) and I will send that same amount via paypal to OS/2world at no cost as soon as it arrives on my account.

But is this feasible while maintaining the original sponsors name? Does the bounty system always takes the "paypal payer" name for the sponsor's name?

Greetings
Thomas

Th bounty system is not an automatic system; so there is no problem with who the bounty sponsorship belongs to. There is also a notice field that can be used when using PayPal to inform that the amount has been forwarded.

Thanks for the offer Thomas. I have no problem with doing that.
I just found another location where also only PayPal is acceptable. So I guess, sooner or later I need to get a PayPal account as well.

Hi Robert,

although perhaps OT - a quick advocacy for PayPal:
The reason for me having a paypal account basically was eBay (faster payment). And that's really worth it, if the seller ships the stuff the same day that he gets the payment notification from PayPal: I remember some auctions that I've paid with PayPal and had the article in my hands the next day! Great.

In the meanwhile, it even get's easier to pay, because you don't need to "fill up" the paypal account before sending money - I can do it directly via "Einzugsermächtigung", which means I can send money immediately, even though PayPal hasn't got the money from my account yet. (This is optional, you don't need to do so if you don't like).
It's a really very, very comfortable way of paying. And that doesn't even mention the benefits when doing international transactions (lower fees, faster payment...) !
And as an eBay seller, it gives me the chance to offer credit card payment etc...

It might be, that some of the features I mentioned are reserved for users that have reached a certain status - don't know.

But the most important item for me is that it still "feels" secure. Except for some phishing attempts (that you'll always risk, even if you're not a PayPal user), I had no problems until today AND: they don't bother me with ads and mails...

Greetings
Thomas
