I was excited about seeing the third beta of version 2.0 but ran
into a problem right away. The ISO file is 738,392,064 bytes but I
can't find a cd with more than about 719,000,000. Can anyone
point me to a cd make with enough space or tell me what silly
workaround I'm overlooking?
TIA

Download the diff and apply it, it makes it 16M smaller.

Would it be possible to put it onto a dvd-r/rw? DVD-R/RW type drives seem to be coming down in price.

It isn't actually, too large for a CD, it just requires an overburn.

Reports are coming in that the following has been successful. Adjust the necessaries to make it conform to your particular system and I'm pretty sure you'll be in business.

cdrdao2 write --driver generic-mmc --device 0,1,0 --lock s --overburn --iso --buffers 64 --speed 10 --eject ecs20beta3_cd1_en.iso

The beta 3 of ECS 2.0 availible at Mensys for several weeks
now is 600MB so it fits on a cd with no tricks.

I'm having problems with eCs beta 3, particulalry the ACPI. On my Thinkpad T20, it pegs the processor at 99.9 % and causes numerous hangs. Removing ACPI and returning to APM sorts this out.

Also, on my wife's T40, the Genmac driver for the built-in Intel 2100 didn't install properly first time, and needed serious removing and reinstalling (and adding STACK32 to one of the parameters in MPTS)

Oh, and eSchemes and Thememanager didn't install properly.

8. APM Setting?

I have eCS 1.2 on my Thinkpad T23. I changed the APM (power management setting) and it went from 90 percent to a 4 or 5 percent. Have you tried changine the setting?

Which setting? Do you mean the "BIOS and eCS" to "BIOS only" setting change? No need, since APM works perfectly - it is just ACPI that doesn't (ACPI works fine on The Wife's T40)
