About the Icon Routines it will be great if also PNG icon support can also be integrated.
Many Linux GUIs uses PNG icons, a very versatil file format.

Also develop a new version of the ICO-format that act more as Metafiles (lossless resize) than bitmaps, preferrably OpenGL 3D style (Opacity, 3D, Shade, Texture, Animations), but then we need a new "Icon"-editor too.

A new 3D format may wait though until we get OpenGL HW support.

Hi Jan-Erik,
the bounty I proposed includes SVG-format icons (near the end of the text). SVG is a vectorial graphics format, so it is exactly like metafiles. We have SVG support in OS/2 through the Cairo library, ported by Doodle.
Being able to use native metafiles would also be nice, but SVG is nicer since you can already find a lot of professionally drawn icons libraries out there.

Bye

Yes, I looked at the SVG version of the FireFox logo and even modified it by hand (removed the "globe" behind it, as it's just plain text) to test how it is built up.

I find your proposal very interesting and also see the need for larger graphics, especially now that resolutions get higher and higher.

It would be nice if the desktop could handle "real" 3D too, soon, if things are working out well with the other components

btw, I'm an engineer and like 3D-CAD and have a thing for Icons.

The Icon Routines will the first step.

I just found some great GNU Icons we can also port to OS/2-eCS on the wikipedia.
