But check out attached image from the RSA Conference 2003 and what Mike Nash, Microsoft are showing us when he was talking about DRM.

Let me qoute from the picture:

Building community consensus that disclosure is not good .....

Well, interesting standpoint from a company that claims that they want to put security in focus...

... as their exclusive Trademark !
Why Windows ?

Every building has windows !
Do all these windows belong to M$ too ?

"Patchwork" would have been a much better name for their product

Ever again a new patch ...
... every patch eliminates one failure but installs 2 new ones -

Reason for this re-post of old story from last year is that there has been some dialog within usenet regarding this statement from MS and where rather many denied that this statement was done. So finding an image that proofs this statement makes it's so much more fun to post <grin>.

Also found following statement at cnetnews:

The company "may offer new security abilities on a paid basis," Microsoft Chief Technical Officer Craig Mundie said here at this week's RSA Conference on tech security. Such a possibility is one of many under consideration within Microsoft's security business unit, recently set up under its own vice president, Mike Nash.

Old news, but seems that rather many companies has already accepted above. Ok, I'm running OS2, so why should I care; well, if this goes into a facts that keeping this kind of information as a secret I think that there would not be any winners in the longer perspective. Already today there is indication from companies that they don't bother to reports bugs and security issues since there is no proper response from Microsoft.

Advice: Change to another product
