I get 'dive get buffer error message 4096' when I click on WV. It opens a comman window then the program. I tried a mpeg file but nothing plays.

| In the command window, it shows 'can not open uniplug.dll'. There is no sound that I can hear. It plays the video after opening a command window. It moved the video window part and it showed the above error message. I was able to get it to work on my T23 Thinkpad with eCS 1.1 installed. With my desktop, I try to update the SNAP from the eCS site. It is SNAP 4.52. Would it work better with SDD/2 instead?

To get my T23 to work with the network hub at the OS/2-eCS.Org booth, the tcp/ip was changed from dhcp to static. I had sound with WarpVision. Does the network setting have any influenece on the sound for WarpVision?

| I use SNAPse on my T20, and the network settings should not make any difference. IN the settings book, I have audio ID -1 and Device 0 set, with no resampling. Sound works fine. Stuart |

| It might have just been a coincedence. The sound works with my T23. On my desktop, I removed the latest version of WV. I downloaded the one from the Kiev site and installed it. It starts okay but closes once I try to play a movie.

I tried the older WV. The result was the same. It would start but close when I try to play a video. Could it be the newer SDD/SNap I am using?

| Hi, ...just guessing, but AFAIK with the older versions of WVGUI there was always a notice telling to delete the video2.ini file before installing the new version. Did you? Also, if you have virtual desktops with ePager (or xPager) activated, better (just for test purpose) deactivate them. As your first error message (at beginning of thread) mentioned some DIVE problem, it *might* be caused by SNAP, but I somehow can't believe this... there's so many of us running Snap and WV - it should already have turned into a "known error" if there were any issues... migth be worth checking at Scitech. If you've got an account with them (free) you can always try to drop them a ticket (problem report) and see what they say? -Keeping fingers crossed- Thomas |

| Every time it closed when I tried to paly an movie, I would delete the video2.ini file. It would start but close when I tried to play a movie. With my Thinkpad T23, it only has the SDD that installs when one installs eCS 1.1. With my desktop, I downloaded and installed the SDD/SNAP from the member download section of the eCS site. I will check the settings. It sees my monitor - a KDS USA K717 flat panel lcd (actually it detects the model but not the make of the monitor. There is KDS in the selection but not the model number that I have. I will be contacting KDS USA about a compatible model number.

I got WV to work. I unzipped the wincodecs into c:/programs/innowin/system (I am not sure if this had anything to do with it). I unziped the latest version of WV. I deleted video2.ini before trying WV. It worked. It was unzipped onto a prvevious version of WV. I am play .asf files. It is nice to have it back. I will try a dvd movie soon (not too soon since I don't want to risk breaking it too soon after getting it to work).

last updated at 30 Oct, 2005 14:57 (1 times) Hi Tom,Glad to see that you have it working... The right place to unzip the wincodecs are to the directory of X:\ODIN\SYSTEM32 ... If you do unzip them to an other place, WarpVision would not find them if the program would need them... I can play nearly all the files I find on the net... There are a few rules with installing in a nutshell: - First install (unzip) a Warpvision with a date in the filename - Then install (unzip) a WarpVision with the latest in the filename. - Download the wincodecs from netlabs and unzip them to X:\odin\system32 (only if you want to view WMV9/ASF/MOV etc. files). Odin needs to be installed allso... - Start Video2.exe and all should working When there is someting wrong you could start from CLI with the log enabled. video2.exe > wv.log Furthermore there is a mailinglist at Netlabs where the author of WV allso exist...

I am able to view .wmv and .asf files using WarpVision. Before I was not able to view .asf files (the sound was okay but the video was really weird). I have not tried any .mov files yet but will give them a try. Thanks for the information.

| Does anyone of you have a commandwindow left when you have closed down WarpVision? You have to close that manually. Could one get rid of it? |

Since I have gotten WV to work, it no longer opens a command window. It was doing it before I started having problems.

I am aware of that. I'm just a little bit rigid and want the program to close in the usual way, therefor this commandwindow is a little annoying for me. |

Hi All The answer is that any video2.exe file from a "wvgui_latest.zip" package is *not* a PM application so displays a command window which it leaves onscreen. Hopefully the author will change that sometime... If you have the os2 toolkit you should be able to make the video2.exe into a PM app using exehdr.exe - but do not ask me for incantation. Might be worth sticking noses into http://news.gmane.org/gmane.org.netlabs.warpvision.general where there seems to be some discussion on this. Look for "Making video2.exe into a PM program".
