Has anyone outthere made experiences with this product. Its very useful for some Sony Mavica Cameras. You can store up to 128 MB on these.
Now I want to read them out under Warp and want not be forced to boot Win for that. There Driver support unter WIN2000/NT so maybe readable under ODIN ?

Thanks achim

If the disk adapter works in the mavica camera it should work in OS/2 without any additional drivers...

I suspect the floppy won't work - OS/2's floppy drivers won't know how to deal with a "128MB floppy disk".

I'd recommend using a USB adapter. I've used a couple different adapters for Compact Flash memory cards and see references here to Memory Sticks.

If you are talking about the LS-120 disk drive, there are drivers for it at the OS/2 device driver pak at IBM. If you are talking about the mini-cdr/rw disc, OS/2 can see them (there was a sample Sony mini-disc with photos on it in/with a copy of PCPhoto magazine that worked with OS/2).
OS/2 Warp-ed to the very end.

Sony MSAC-FD2MA. The memory stick is Sony's proprietary version of a Compact Flash card. The floppy adapter looks just like a floppy disk. The memory stick is inserted, and the adapter put into the floppy drive.

While looking for the memory stick adapter on eBay.com (http://www.ebay.com ), I came across some pcmcia memory stick adapters. Would they work with OS/2? Would it work like it with a 'memory' or 'hard drive' setting in the pcmcia plugnplay program in OS/2?

I've done some searching of the OS/2 newsgroups via deja and seen reports that the floppy adapter comes with special drivers. They weren't able to get it to work - there are no OS/2 versions of the drivers.

Research also turned up people using USB with the memory stick. I've seen mention, but not confirmation, of using using PCMCIA adapters as well.

I posted this question on different discussion groups at http://groups.yahoo.com (either OS/2 or eCS related groups). I will check back with any responses).

I did receive a - somewhat - positive reply at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/nb2discuss about the memory stick PCMCIA adapter.

No Way, i tried that and it did not work. Under Win w/o drivers, there is also no access.

I tried to install the drivers under ODIN, but, ......|-(, I do not know how to do it.

Hallo

in the meanwhile, i searched for Linux drivers, and here is what I found:

A Text from June 2000 form Steves Digicams:
->begin
Linux User Community

NAPLES, Fla.-- SmartDisk Corporation announced that support for the Linux operating system (OS) has been integrated into its FlashPath™ for SmartMedia™ floppy disk adapter for digital appliances. This extends FlashPath's OS support to the growing base of consumer and professional users who are incorporating the open source interface into their networks and desktops both at home and at the office. The software is certified by Linuxcare, Inc., a leader in comprehensive consulting and professional services for the Linux community.

The first release of Linux software for FlashPath is certified with Red Hat 6.2. For other versions of Linux, the kernel (the essential center of the Linux operating system) must be revision 2.2.n.

FlashPath's data transfer speed is also greater than the transfer speeds of the serial port readers currently available to Linux users. Its portable size and lack of cables and connectors also make FlashPath the ideal flash memory reader for those consumers who use Linux both at home and at the office.

FlashPath adapters are available for three of the leading flash memory types: Toshiba's SmartMedia™, Sony's Memory Stick™, and SanDisk's MultiMediaCard. FlashPath for Sony's Memory Stick™ is distributed on a worldwide basis by Sony Corporation under its own brand name called Memory Stick/Floppy Disk Adapter.

FlashPath for SmartMedia Linux drivers are now available from SmartDisk's Web site at www.smartdisk.com. Additionally, Linux driver support for FlashPath for Sony's Memory Stick and SanDisk's MultiMediaCard is planned for later this year.

Then I changend to Smartdisk.com:
http://www.smartdisk.com/Products/Flash Memory Readers/Flashpath.asp

But there are no Linux-Drivers available on this Site.

Is there anybody knowing more about that ?

Achim
