Can someone tell me how to find the IP address of a machine that runs OS2? I'm not at all familiar (obviously) with navigating around OS2. Thanks!!

open an os/2 command prompt. type: ifconfig lanX where x is the adapter # you wish to check. usually lan0 also: ifconfig entered like that will show you the command options. if you're using the default ibm tcp/ip dialer, the message windows will show you the ip addresses and the route info. may need to set it to verbose (i've not dialedup for years)

If you are behind a router/firewall and want to know your IP as shown outside of your local network, there are utilities available on Hobbes to do that, such as GetMyIP. Otherwise, go to the System Setup folder-> Network -> TCP/IP -> DHCP Monitor. Select your network interface (lan0, lan1, etc.) if not already selected. Your IP address should appear below.

and as always, fire up "any" web browser, go to http://checkip.dyndns.org for IP address seen from outside wall. (That is of course asuming that you have a public IP address.)

try GetMyIP. This Program will retrieve your IP address assigned to a host either through an external server. The address is an external IP address which may be dynamically assigned by an ISP. Now with GetMyIP GUI http://hobbes.nmsu.edu/pub/os2/apps/internet/dynip/getmyip107.zip Peter
