Here is a piece of hardware that looks really cool and I actually would like to have. Only problem is that there is only support for Mac - happy them then... Here is some lines about this product taken from Griffin Technology:

PowerMate is the coolest volume knob your computer has ever seen – and so much more. Use it to edit home movies or scroll through long documents and web pages. Best of all, PowerMate is an assignable controller. Program it to do anything you want in any application. Customize it to your own needs and get wild.

Made of high-quality machined aluminum, PowerMate feels like a solid volume knob pulled right off the front of a world-class stereo. Its heavy weight and tactile feel are a welcome departure from typical plastic USB peripherals. PowerMate functions beautifully as a convenient volume knob and mute button for music listening on your PC or Mac. But that’s just the beginning of PowerMate’s possibilities.

If there is only support for MAC, why does it say '..for your pc or mac'?

Have you already tried to get it working with OS/2's USB drivers? Please do so, and let me know, would be great addition to www.jonasbuys.easynet.be/os2/os2chl.txt !

Hmm true that it says PC but I could only find drivers for Mac for it. But, I really would like to see it working with PC and of course with OS2. Hopefully there will be some support for other OS in the near future.

I take it you have an OS/2 installation? Why don't you just try to get it working under OS/2? I'll borrow you a driver, if you haven't got SWC

I have the OS/2 USB drivers from http://hobbes.nmsu.edu that work with my VIA chipset PCI USB card (this card was not easy to find [I found one at a computer show/sale] and I use it with my Canon S300 USB printer). Does it need special software/drvers or will the USB drivers for OS/2 detect it?

I thought everything would be detected automatically. If it doesn't do it, then use the most recent USB drivers.

Normally, every USB hub should work, since all hub's are based on one and the same chipset, and OS/2 drivers support them.

It appears - from the description - that the program it is used with has to have the option or feature that it can detect and use this device. Is there any programs (for OS/2 or other platforms) that use or can use this device?
