| This was something new; the project was registered: 2004-01-14 13:25. Let's see what comes out of this. |

"Apparently the worst thing that may happen to a project is when it dies on its way to Open-Source." A quote from the forum there at https://sourceforge.net/ultraboard/forum.php?thread_id=1060714&forum_id=345031 . It would have been nice if they had released the original source code for the OS/2-eCS version so others could try to update it or just compile it.

In the PMMail mailing list, there was a comment form the Blueprint software representative on the 30th of March about this. At the time they were waiting for the current developer to send the source to him to put up on SourceForge. Not surprisingly, it isn't the highest priority task on his todo list. Apparently he was preparing his next release of PMView.

Not too bad of news since PMView is such a great program at such a reasonable price. I wonder if it takes that long to just copy some files to be sent to someone? Perhaps the author has changed his mind?

No, it doesn't take long to copy a some files. But, that's not what they are doing. As well as coping the files, they will be: - making sure that they have all of the code - separating the Windows and OS/2 code (I understand that they have separate code bases, but, I'd be surprised if nothing is shared) - removing any proprietary code - making sure that someone else can build it These aren't five minute tasks, and, as the code has been around a while and through at least three hands, I wouldn't be surprised if it could take a couple of weeks. And as Blueprint will get very little benefit out of this, it will be a very low priority task for them.

With it being open sourced, it will mean more people to work out the bugs.

| One could hope for that, but have you heard anything more on this topic, ie e-mails asking for updates, etc? |

When I checked the site, there was stil no files to download. I have not heard anything from them either. Perhaps they changed their mind? I will e-mail them to find out.
