1. Using YouTube to watch video
Reply to this topic with quote Modify your message
The YouTube website hosts a lot of video. It's all encoded in Flash to keep you from downloading anything, and also to save them bandwidth.

I can play all the videos, but I can't get the audio.

I have no problem with Google audio/video, which is also encoded in Flash.

Here is a test link to a short Pink Floyd video <http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dxQhCNW8pLk>

Can you hear audio on this?

Thanks for help!

Hi USBguy

Sorry to report no sound on any of the clips I tried - sound usually works fine with Flash7 here.

Maybe the site requires the latest flash player... might be worth asking.

Regards

Pete

OK, I found out how to get sound on YouTube.

I had the Flash 7r63 plugin, and I back-levelled to the Flash 7r14 plugin, and now I have sound.

I have sound, but the video pauses in about 8 seconds until I re-seek it or pause and play it (even though it is fully bufferred or bufferred well beyond the point it is pausing on).

I've never had any trouble with any of the Youtube videos that I've watched. (And I watch a lot...)
My flash is the 7r14 version.

The only time I lost sound was when I set libpathstrict to true.

I use it with both Seamonkey and Firefox, usually Peter's latest revisions.

Anyone know where I can find r14? I thought that was what I was running, but I only have r19 and the later version.

Thanks all,
Robert

bounty to have it ported to OS/2-eCS.

In case anyone is interested.

I will let Innotek know of it. Perhaps they can make a port of it? It would be newer than version 5.

Gnash (currently) needs OpenGL support higher than we have. There is ongoing work to implement a Cairo backend for Gnash at which time an OS/2 port may be possible.

I'm on the Gnash mailing list and try and keep up with what's going on there...

Cheers,

Paul.

Thanks for the information.

Doodles (current version) mentions Cairo. Is this similar to what you are talking about?

Cairo is just a graphics library - like OpenGL. Cairo is available for OS/2 as you've identified above.

What's missing, is full support for Cairo as a graphics backend in Gnash - currently only OpenGL is fully supported, for which we only have v1.1 which is positively ancient.
