If you know a old or unsupported OS/2 game you like. Lets ask the authors to make it Open Source and Freeware.

I had done that with some old OS/2 games that. Sometimes the author has forget that they made it. I had a really posite answer about this. Many author don't care and don't support his/her games anymore and don't have problems sharing the source of it.

So, if you know someone that has code an OS/2 game, lets ask them to open Source it !!!!

Is you want to continue an OS/2 Open Souce game check:

Sounds like a good idea. I know of a couple games that were for OS/2 that would be great as open source (ie; Toyland).

A number of those would certainly be nice to have. Especially ScummVM (http://scummvm.sourceforge.net). A native OS/2 version would make it possible to play many of the old LucasArts games on OS/2 without the need for the DOS box and hence without the need for a sound card that supports the DOS box. A big advantage IMHO.

What about creating a new game? I have some stuff, but I have no
(or poor) abilities for graphics programming or all the math needed for
a good game. If somebody is interested, post it here...

There is always interest in new games; especially if it is an OS/2 native program.

I just finished the coarse construction of my homepage. Never mind the odd empty pages, they will be filled soon! Now you can download the first steps towards my space-opera called 'TheGame' (in lack of a better name) from

Schornak.bei.t-online.de

TG is icluded in the ST-5.0.0. archive, the subfolder is ..\ST5\source\TG !

If somebody is interested in helping to develop this game, please feel free to send an E-mail or post here. If there is some response, I will continue working on this project, otherwise it probably will stay in the current state, because there are other things to do...

Bernhard, regarding your cooment your your homepage regarding 3D koding have you thought about using or testing CrystalSpace 3D Engine? This might be a solution for you.

Thanks for your suggestion. I just tested the engine a bit - great stuff!

As you could watch it grow over the last months, my homepage is (almost) ready now. Just needs some fine tuning and paintwork, I guess. At the moment, I'm working "under the hood" of my basic system, recoding some vital parts. As soon as this work is finished, I will try to launch TheGame with more power. But TG shouldn't be a 3D action game - think of it as a really huge and more intelligent expansion of GalCiv/2 into 3 dimensions (against 2 in GalCiv/2). Including a complete 3D engine would be some kind of overkill.

As there are far too many action games on the market, it's time to have some round based games again. Old people like me - man, I'm almost 46 now - prefer some slower, more intellectual games...

Greetings from Augsburg

The one thing (or one of the things) I like about Doom/Quake type of game is the ability to 'walk' around using the arrow keys or a mouse or a joystick without having to click the direction one has to go (like in Myst or Avarice). I also like the 'secrets' in Doom/Quake type of game where one finds hidden rooms, hidden items, bonus stuff. IIRC - there was a version of Myst that was similar to Doom in the way one navigated the areas (just going to the room without having to click on the direction one wanted to go).
