| In the April 2005 issue of Popular Science, the 'Soapbox' section article labeled 'Spam and Punishment' recomends dumping Windows (or at least Outlook). They recomend 'The safest route is to switch to a MAC or GNU/Linux OS, but if that's to drastic, at least stop using Outlook and Explorer with Windows. Instead try Thunderbird and Firefox,...'. It would have been neat if they mentioned eCS or OS/2 as alternatives to MAC or Linux. I will send them a letter/e-mail saying that eCS is a viable alternative to Win).

![]() Hi, BigWarpGuy, As far as the Establishment Mass Media is concerned, they just go with the latest "buzz". These are journalists, not real computer guys. I think nowadays one has to have a deep understanding of computer opeating systems and the history of computer operating systems to even know that Warp and eCS even exist. Warp and eCS are not the kind of operating systems that your average Joe goes into the nearest MegaMax Depot to purchase. All they know or hear about is Window$ so all they say is "Yep!" Warp and eCS guys are definitely not "average Joes." As far as Linux goes, I don't think it will ever win much market share among average consumer types because it is too complex to set up. Most people want their computers to be as easy as possibele to run, preferably as easy as TVs, and are not willing to put in the effort to learn Warp, Unix, BSD, Linux or anything else. It is sad that IBM has done such a poor job of promoting Warp in the past. I think it will take a thorough housecleaning at the top levels of IBM to get anyone to pay attention to this true jewel of an operating system and away from the current fashionable facination with Linux.
