Hi

I have a local network, consisting of a 4 port DLS ruter with 3 computers connected.

#1 OS2
#2 Linux
#3 OS2

All 3 computers can ping to each other.

All 3 computers can browse and / or ftp to external sites.

#1 and #2 can connect to FTP / Web servers on each other.

#3 cannot connect to an ftp / web server on any of the other, and none of the other can connect to a server on #3, over the local net, but they can if they connect via my external IP !?

Not a big problem, but I'm somewhat mystifyed.

Hope you can help.

KIF

kif,

indeed: Strange.
My first guess would be "firewall on #3". But then, you're likely to have checked that already, didn't you?
Next guess would be to ask: Is there any "networking" difference between #3 and #1/#2 like static IP instead of dynamic or what about the Router? Is there any kind of port forwarding rules that do not apply to - say - MAC adress access control or whatever.
Is that #3 a "newer" machine than the other two? Have you set up a DHCP pool of 2 adresses only which interferes with the rest of the setup...?

Greetings
Thomas

Hi WarpCafe, you are a genius !

No it's not some firewall settings, yes I have checked those.

Yes it is the newest computer on my network.

No, no differences in nerwork settings (has been copied from #1).

No mac rules in router, ip space from 192.168.0.2 to 192.168.0.254, #3 has got an ip addres from ruter.

But #3 are DMZ, you got me thinking (something I try to avoid ;o) and found that #3 also was set as NAT for port 80, in the router.

This somehow comflicted.

Thanks for your input.

...finally someone admits it... I need to print your answer, cut it, put it in a glass frame and stick it to my offices wall!

Yep, 'twas something like that I suspected... but nevertheless: Good to know what symptoms arise from such a situation... glad I could help (more or less).

Greetings
Thomas
