| Hi, I would like to know if he have a opensource compiler for programming on Os/2 and doing open source software. Like GNU C++ or something? I would like to do GUI Applications in C++ (if its possible) or Java (if i have no choice!) Does i need to buy a Visual software for doing that? thanks ! have a nice day! |

| HI you are in good luck jejej see www.openwatcom.org for a FREE c and c++ compiler also you can get the GNU C compiler , see www.innotek.de for a copy i also advise you to see www.netlabs.org OF COURSE the best opensource information website for Os/2  |

It makes it easier to port unix programs to OS/2? Does this include Linux programs?

I've not actually tried it myself. It's been successfully used to port PERL. |

| Hi You may be interested to know that the Borland JBuilder X Foundation development package works on OS/2 based systems with java141 or later installed. The Foundation package is free from http://www.borland.com/products/downloads/download_jbuilder.html but has to be installed on a Windows system as it is in a Windows self installing executable - once installed it works fine with eCS and java142. So, if you have to use java at least there is a fairly modern development package that works. Regards Pete |
