Are you able to restore the desktop from the desktop archives, ie booting up with ALT+F1?

1. What are you using for your graphic driver, SDD what? Gengradd? other?

What are you launching from the STARTUP.CMD? Something in it could be causing it. If it something that can be launched from the startup folder, try making a program object of it and sticking it in the Startup folder.

OS/2, and eCS has inherited it have a timing problem with launching programs when the WPS starts. XWP comes with it own startup folder that allows one to adjust the timing of the loading programs.

Or you can try this program which does the same thing. I wish eCS eWPS came with the XWP startup folder, but it does not.

One thing to try right away is to boot to a command prompt and rename the STARTUP.CMD something else. Then reboot and see if the WPS still hangs.
