1. Bad CD-RW Drive? |
I have a Philips CD-RW drive that was working with OS/2 using RSJ software. Now it does not seem to work. I have to reformat the hard drive because I messed it up with Partition Magic ver 3 (the hard drive was 20 gig in size). I was able to re-install Warp ver 4 with fixpak 15 (WarpUp). The cd-rw would not be seen by either the bios/mainboard or the RSJ software. Is it the drive or the driver? I have changed it from the secondary master to the secondary slave. The cd-rw is an ide drive. It was refurbished when I bought it. I have installed the Dani drivers but it still does not see it (when it did see it on occasion, it saw it only as a cd-rom drive [it being the RSJ software - I have gotten the most recent one too]). If I have to replace it, it would not be too bad since I have seen some cd-rw ide drives for less than $100 and it is tax refund season (soon). |

2. CD-RW Drive Okay! |
It was not the cd-rw drive. I had hard drive problems. I was using a newer version of the RSJ software that my licence key was not for. I replaced the hard drive. I found the original diskette/software that I had used to install the RSJ from. Everything is working okay now. Warp not only can 'burn' a cdr/cdrw but also sees the other cd-rom drive. All is well.
OS/2 Warp-ed to the very end.
