Hi Again
Thanks for your responses. I appreciate all the info. I have purchased eCs, but haven't received it yet so here goes more of my problem
I've been out of town and am just now trying again to get my usb printer to work. Here are the results so far:
1. I copied, installed, and ran the file from USBCFGB7A
Results:
System Page:
Controllers Available: OHCI(usb v1) Quantity: 2
Controller Drivers Installed: UHCI(usb v1) Quant: 1
I/O Page:
Driver Information:
Printer Vendor: IBM Version 10.039
Usename: $USBPRT
2. Copied and installed USBPRTEN
On reboot the following happens(I won't type the
entire msg):
USBUHCD, USBD, USBHID, USPPRT(OS/2 Boot)
Not installed
The boot process ignores the Basdev= lines that
the above files are on.
3. Tried Printing anyway and get the following error msg:
IBM Null
PMV8006 There is no paper in the printer. Load
the paper
There is actually paper in the printer when I try to
print
I guess I'm too low-tech to figure this out. Help!
BTW--is eCs easy to install? Should I get SVista or is it included?Dennis
Hi
Use USBcfg to change the Controller Drivers installed to exactly the same as the Controllers Available - in this case it looks like you should have 2 OHCI drivers but you are trying to use 1 UHCI driver instead so need to change it to 2 OHCI and 0 for UHCI and EHCI.
That should get USB working - possibly
You need to install a printer driver for the printer in use and select the USB port in the Output page of the Printer driver Properties.
Is eCS easy to install? - the answer is Yes/No/Maybe depending on who you ask. I think it is easier than Warp4 used to be but still not as good as it should be.
I don't think that SVista development includes an eCS Host anymore so I would check that out a bit more before making decisions.
