| Has anyone heard more from the person who was thinking of setting up an internet service provider for OS/2-eCS? Are they still working on it or has it been dropped? Inquiring minds want to know. Guess that you are thinking about the thread that was talking about setting up a poll if this service would be of interest. Guess that this thread by itself turned out as a poll ![]() No nothing new there, yet - but I guess that the last word isn't said about this topic. Even if it's more of interest for os2 users in the states. |

| I am the person in question. I have decided to table the idea, there wasn't sufficient interest and I was shocked by the negative comments. I have been an OS/2 user longer than most and have tended to be a lurker rather than a participant, now I know why. I did have some response from interested persons and did email those individuals to let them know that I had decided not to proceed. I hope that answers the questions, sorry for not leaving a note here. Thanks, Jim |

| Problem is that some people tend to have an opinion that they would like to enforce as the final and make it a decision. Would be nice talked more what they would preferr and keep an open dialog and explain a bit more why they tend to be negativ. This goes for some other threads within this forum where people almost got up to fight over odd topics. /Kim |

| Frankly, I think of more use to us all - and to the community at large - would be a set of configuration instructions for each ISP, scripted by those of us using OS/2, and offered to the various ISP's for inclusion in their own help pages. That would give us some good exposure and provide well-scripted help pages for OS/2 users needing assistance. (End of unsolicited two cents.) | Perhaps a web page of how to connect to different isp's and what software could be used -with the settings for that isp(?). StarTrek Magazine (IIRC - http://www.startrek.net ) had a 'contract' with Earthlink that created a Star Trek ISP. It allowed a @startrek.net with the home page being for fans of Star Trek or Trekkers. It would be nice if Serenity Systems did something like that for eComStation users (and OS/2 users?) with @ecs.net or @ecomstation.net. It would utilize what already exists - the Earthlink network of phone numbers all over the world and being able to be used by any person with a modem and internet software - and give a home page that is eCS-OS/2 centered. (just thinking out loud). BigWarpGuy - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - OS/2 Warp-ed to the very end. - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - |

| ... called "SLIPPM" for Dialing-UP other Internet Providers ! One of your folders is called "IBM Internet Connection for OS/2" 1) Dial Other Internet Providers Since 2) is no more IBM now, because ATT has bought over the whole IBM Service IBM at their times provided a settings instruction how to get connected with the DOIP !! My experience with IBM's resp. now ATT's dial-up services were very well Good luck and Happy New Year |

| http://www.attglobal.net has the OS/2-eCS dialer in its download section of its web site. Most of the non-OS/2-eCS users of IBM's isp service was switched to Worldnet and OS/2-eCS was switched to ATTGlobalNetwork (IMHO - the prices are fairly competitive). The dialer has not be updated in a while and does not (IIRC) seem to support passwords that are longer than 8 characters. The phone list and modem lists seem to be updated more often. I will send them information about the newer free software in case they are interested in it. I use the PPP program for OS/2 that I found at http://hobbes.nmsu.edu which seems to help with my ATTGlobalNetwork connection.
