Is there anything being with or to XFree86? There seems to be little or no news of or about XFree86. Is it being updated or is it outdated?

Netlabs do work on it.

They have version 4.3, 4.4 and 4.5 on their FTP site. /pub/XFree.

There are still some active websites out there on OS/2's version and installation, but most of them are either old or defunct.

HTH you.

My understanding is that the main XFREE86 development (not just OS/2) has mostly halted after some internal issues.

unixos2.org may be a better source for XFree86 ... or Linux ports.

There never has been much activity here at all. People with questions re. XFree86/OS2 usually ask in the XFree86/OS2 mailing list or the news groups.

And are there any plans to make an OS/2 port of X.org, which seems to be the follower of Xfree86 ?

IIRC one person from the XFree86/OS2 mailing list tried to compile it but got stuck at some point because of incompatibilities with Innotek gcc.

The latest version available for OS/2 is 4.5.0. See the Netlabs FTP server at ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/xfree86.
