1. LS-120 with OS/2? |
|
|
Are there OS/2 drivers for the LS-120 drives? Can one use a LS-120 drive and have OS/2 recognize it the 120 meg on the disk?

I was hoping the LS-120 drives would eventually replace the diskette drive. It does not seem to happen. Supposedly the current ide drivers from IBM support it. LS-120 drives are not cheap and they are hard to find. Perhaps they will have another diskette replacement that will work (IMHO, it would be neat if there was a mini-cdr/rw drive [about the size of a diskette drive but only uses mini-cdr/rw discs] as a replacement for the diskette [it holds a hundred times more data]).

| Agree it would be nice if this could actually replace the old 3.5 inch diskette. But it looks more and more as a dead technology actually. What else could be used as a good replacement for the 3.5 inch diskette unit ? /Kim |

I heard some one suggest using memory sticks as a replacement for the diskette (at least use like a diskette). They suggested that all computers have a memory stick reader. They thought it would be easier to carry and transport and hold more information/data.

| Interesting idead actually. A memory stick reader takes no place at all and the memory are very small. Okey, the price would have to drop down a bit. But still 8MB are rather cheap and would be enought for the most people to cary around. What about thoose USB memory sticks that exists? That would also be a nice solutions since of its small and USB is already part of the OS. Could one actually already get a USB memory "stick" to boot up if one made some hacks in the bios or with a boot loader on the existing hard disk? |

| That would be an interesting project. I wonder if anyone has tried something like that(?). Perhaps one could 'see' it as a 'hard drive' and transfer data to and from it in such a manner. BigWarpGuy
