Hi all, With the new multicore INTEL and AMD chips, will this ever be supported by OS/2? I guess I already know the answer but is it too much to ask? .cytan |

| I don't know enough about the multicore chips. But if the multicore chips can be kicked into gear similarly to an SMP machine, then I would think there is a possibility of seeing the SMP kernel modified for the multicore processors. On the other hand, if it would take more then minor kernel modifications to the SMP kernel, then it is less likely. Just my thoughts. |

Barring unforseen circumstances, the SMP version of eCS WILL see dual-core processors as two cpu's - read this eCS faq entry:Q: Do I need the SMP upgrade in order to take advantage of Intel's HyperThreading technology? A: To our understanding, the SMP version of eComStation does *not* recognize the Intel HT CPU as a dual CPU system, so it would not help to run it. Either way, the CPU will be treated as a single-core processor, thus running equally well. There are new CPU's planned that are 'truly' dual-core and will as such be able to run the SMP version (of any OS) to take advantage of the extra processing power. |

| Someone really needs to confirm this. If this is true, I'll certainly be plonking down real money for ECS SMP. cytan
