Hello everybody. First of all, I want to thank you for your help on OS/2 problems.
And now for my question: does anybody know how to install the USB drivers for the Wacom USB tablets, that masami has kindly made available for the OS/2 community? (link: http://www.1drop.net/w/W2_008.zip).
I don't understand japanese, so I haven't been able to get them to work.

Thanks in advance.
J. C.

Hope this can help you a bit.
Just try this way: go to

http://babelfish.altavista.com/

and type (or paste...) the URL in the "Translate a Web page" field. Select Japanese to English and read. The translation is somewhat odd, but it's better than nothing, after all. At least you can figure out the basic steps. Good luck!

Install instruction:
1. Extract files from w2_008.zip
2. Copy usbwcm.sys to x:\os2\boot
3. Add following lines into config.sys where lines after usb drivers.
DEVICE=x:\os2\boot\usbwcm.sys /V
4. Copy TabDll.dll to somewhere on libpath.

I'm using Wacom Intuos 2 USB tablet without problems.
If you use Amouse, please use latest version (2.7 beta).
Below is a part of my config.sys.
--------
BASEDEV=USBUHCD.SYS
BASEDEV=USBUHCD.SYS
BASEDEV=USBEHCD.SYS
BASEDEV=USBD.SYS /REQ:USBUHCD$,USBOHCD$,USBEHCD$
BASEDEV=USBHID.SYS
BASEDEV=USBMSD.ADD /FLOPPIES:0 /REMOVABLES:4
BASEDEV=USBCDROM.ADD /V
DEVICE=D:\OS2\BOOT\USBWCM.SYS /V
DEVICE=D:\OS2\BOOT\USBKBD.SYS
DEVICE=D:\OS2\BOOT\USBMOUSE.SYS
DEVICE=D:\OS2\BOOT\USBCOM.SYS

Does the driver support Wacom Graphire 2 device?

Does the driver support Wacom Graphire 2 device?

Mmm...I don't know.
Masami's driver was developped and tested with Intuos 2. He also implemented FAVO (Japan name of Graphire), Cintiq, and Intuos 3 supports to his driver but no one (even Masami) knows whether it actually works for them.

If you already have Graphire 2, or you can volunteer to test his driver, please go ahead. But if you need "tested" device just now, I recommend you to buy Intuos 2.

Hi all. Thanks a lot for your help. I'll try to install and use the tablet. Willing to post that it succeeds

Hello. I have tested both Wacom Graphire2 and Wacom Volito, and none of them work with masami's drivers. Bad luck!

Sorry to hear the result.

BTW, is your system configured properly to use USB mice?
I heard that Wacom USB tablet works as USB mouse by default. Actually my Intuos-2 works just as a mouse without installing Masami's driver.
I don't know Graphire 2 also support the "mouse mode" but I guess it is worth to check your system with USB mouse.

I probably buy FAVO 3 (Graphire 3 compatible?) in near future.

No, I haven't got an USB mouse, and so i've got the corresponding sentence REM'd out in CONFIG.SYS. But, who knows, it deserves a try;-)

Bad news again. No, it doesn't work even with the USBMOUSE.SYS activated.

I get FAVO 3 (= Graphire 3, Model name :CTE-430) today.
It doesn't work in full tablet mode so I can't get absolute coordinate pointing or pen pressure support. But, it works just as a mouse at least. So I think Graphire 2 must work as USB mouse too.

It is very important that your system is configured properly for USB mouse. Don't you borrow any USB mice from your friends for a while?
Maybe your config.sys is missing the line of usbhid.sys?

Anyway, I'll talk to Masami about my FAVO 3 to make it work in full tablet mode.

OK, I'll re-borrow the Graphire2 tablet tomorrow, and give it a try.
And yes, the line you mention is activated, but I don't know what it is for.
Thanks again for your help.

OK, I have tried both a mouse and the Graphire2 tablet. The USB mouse works right, but the Wacom Graphire2 tablet, no.
Of course, I've checked all the config.sys settings, and all of the usb sentences are correct.
I think it's been the final test. I'm quitting the Wacom tablet stuff.

Hello again. I have to apologize, because my former post is not totally correct...

I've been doing a lot of tests with both a Wacom Volito and a Wacom Graphire2 tablets, and finally I have been able to use the Graphire2, but not the Volito.

What has done the trick?. Disabling masami's driver, and using only the USB driver -thanks for your suggestion, Achain!!!.

And yes, the graphire 2 only works as a relative pointer, but it's better than nothing.

Hope it helps.
Greeting from Spain,
vinaros2

I'm grad to hear your progress.

Msami is looking into FAVO/Graphire support code of his driver. I hope we get it working on my FAVO 3 in near future and then Graphire series should also work.

Here is the test version og usbwcm.sys :
http://www.1drop.net/w/usbwcm.sys
This makes my FAVO3 working PERFECTLY!!

Could you try and let me know if it works for Graphire2?

Hello again, Achain.
I've installed that test driver and I can confirm that it works perfectly... with my Wacom Volito tablet. And it works in absolute mode.

As I do not own the Graphire2 tablet which I have been testing, I cannot tell you whether it works or not. I'll go another time to my friend's, and ask him for another test... I'll keep you informed.

vinaros2, thanks for your testing.
I don't have any info about the Volito. It seems to be available for Europe.
Could you let me know the model number like CTF-xxx or FT-xxx ? It's printed in back side of the tablet. I'll ask Masami to add the model to tested device list.

I'll summarize "how to get wacom tablet working on OS/2" and post it to OS/2 and USB site or somewhere...someday

Hi all again. Finally I've managed to get the Graphire2 tablet, for a few moments to test -don't ask me how ...

And here's the final verdict - with masami's test driver (thanks a lot, masami ) :

a) Graphire2 - pointer.

It works perfectly, but only as a pointer in absolute mode. None of their lateral buttons work, as a primary or secondary mouse buttons would do.

b) Graphire2 - wireless mouse included with it.

It works flawlessly, including all buttons except its wheel.

c) Wacom Volito tablet (it only has one lateral button, and no mouse included).

It also works without problem, except for the lateral button, which it doesn't work either.

Greetings,
vinaros2

Wacom Volito: Model FT-0405-U0B. It hasn't got any CTF - xxx code on it.
I believe it's just a cheap Graphire version, with only one button on the pen, and no wireless mouse.

Interesting. At here, with FAVO3, 1st pen-side button is working as right-mouse-button, and 2nd pen-side button is working as middle-mouse-button.

Can you post results of tab.exe (included in W2_00x.zip) of your Volito? This tool dump out tablet status to console like this:

code:
packet len=8, x max=10206, y max=7422, pressure max=511
distance max=32, tilt x max=127, tilt y max=127
abs wheel max=1023, rz min=-900, rz max=899,
throttle min=-1023, throttle max=1023, fuzz x=4, fuzz y=4
product id=19

tool=2, serial=0, button=32, x=2667, y=2542
distance=0, pressure=0, tilt x=0, tilt y=0
abs wheel=0, rel wheel=0, throttle=0, rz=0
proximity=16

02 92 69 0a f4 09 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00 00

The "button=" part takes several values by pen/pen-side-button status. This is my FAVO3 result:
- pen up : button=0
- pen down : button=128
- pen up + 1st pen-side button : button=32
- pen up + 2nd pen-side button : button=64
- pen down + 1st pen-side button : button=160
- pen down + 2nd pen-side button : button=192
