| I downloaded and installed the latest WarpVision and the Wincodecs. WarpVision would not start. I just get the properties box. I deleted the video2.ini file and it still would not start. Is it me or is there something wrong with the latest WarpVision?

| Interesting, I downloaded it for my warp 4 drive. It played a mpeg-1 file I had on the drive just fine but when I went to play a mp3 file - it brought down the entire system! This did not occur with the previous version I had so I will be reverting back to that one. Adam |

| I just tried the latest Warpvision. It won't play DVD's for me, and the previous one worked. Deleted the .ini file and no change. Not sure what's up with this version, but I'm going back to the old one. Also, I found I needed to download and unzip the file: ftp://ftp.netlabs.org/pub/wvgui/libc06r1.zip for it to work. |

Starting it from a command line will probably reveal that some DLL might be missing... |

| Hi! New drop of wvgui (4 oct 2005) is working for me, so it means some crashes with certain file types... some hangs from time to time... some OSD scattering... some zombies threads in tasklist... no worse and no better than with previous build (1 jun 2005). Still no way to get rid of debug window, still no recording - so no new functionality yet (but postprocess dialog page listbox works ok now). Simply beta quality soft. greetings/2 |

| I also installed WV on my T23 that has eCS 1.1. It did not have a previous version of WV on it. It started up okay. Unfortunately I did not have a DVD to try or any movie files on the T23 to use with it.

| Something strange it is with the new version. I got the previous one installed and this one functions allright. DVD as well as files on my harddrive. Though it gives a little strange "format" when I play mpg:s, people become kind of "long in their faces". Wmv:s just fine and mov-files from my digital camera are for the first time having the right colors. Though I can't add them to playlist, then the program will crash. Also when you close down the programme there is som cmd-box left open. It's both better and worse in my opinion! |

| I deleted everything in the WarpVision directory and unzipped the latest into it. It still does not play. The icon for WarpVision no longer shows the elephant but a generic icon. I click on the icon and it shows the property box. I will place the WarpVision in a different directory and try it again. I will be trying the WarpVision on my T23. I downloaded some videos (from http://hobbes.nmsu.edu and http://www.merlinmotorsusa.com to try with it) and will be trying a dvd (the T23 has a dvd drive - IIRC). PS 'director of communications' is the title I have for the non-profit OS/2-eCS.Org group ( http://www.os2ecs.org ). I nominated and elected into that position. I 'spread the word' of OS/2-eCS.Org activities. I am totally new to that title and am just doing my best. |

My wvgui directory contains following files: 05-10-07 17:15 <DIR> 788 . And no aditional tuning or libpath needed to make wvgui working as expected. (of course working directory on file tab of video2.exe object is set to proper one where all files reside)... greetings/2 |

| Recent versions of WarpOverlay are very broken. It used to be it just trashed the system after playing porn. I agree that it is both better and worse. I can play the Doom movie trailer (.mov) with sound now. However, it crashes when after program is started, loading a second media file. I'm somewhat lost on the development of WV these days - who's making these releases? What ever happend to the kiev people? I liked them. Perhaps these new people need some help.. ..Not just our frustration. |

| In the command window, it shows 'can not open uniplug.dll'. There is no sound that I can hear. It plays the video after opening a command window. It moved the video window part and it showed the above error message. I was able to get it to work on my T23 Thinkpad with eCS 1.1 installed. With my desktop, I try to update the SNAP from the eCS site. It is SNAP 4.52. Would it work better with SDD/2 instead?

| Hi, ...just guessing, but AFAIK with the older versions of WVGUI there was always a notice telling to delete the video2.ini file before installing the new version. Did you? As your first error message (at beginning of thread) mentioned some DIVE problem, it *might* be caused by SNAP, but I somehow can't believe this... there's so many of us running Snap and WV - it should already have turned into a "known error" if there were any issues... migth be worth checking at Scitech. -Keeping fingers crossed- |

| Every time it closed when I tried to paly an movie, I would delete the video2.ini file. It would start but close when I tried to play a movie. With my Thinkpad T23, it only has the SDD that installs when one installs eCS 1.1. With my desktop, I downloaded and installed the SDD/SNAP from the member download section of the eCS site. I will check the settings. It sees my monitor - a KDS USA K717 flat panel lcd (actually it detects the model but not the make of the monitor. There is KDS in the selection but not the model number that I have. I will be contacting KDS USA about a compatible model number.

I got WV to work. I unzipped the wincodecs into c:/programs/innowin/system (I am not sure if this had anything to do with it). I unziped the latest version of WV. I deleted video2.ini before trying WV. It worked. It was unzipped onto a prvevious version of WV. I am play .asf files. It is nice to have it back. I will try a dvd movie soon (not too soon since I don't want to risk breaking it too soon after getting it to work).

| Hi Tom, Glad to see that you have it working... The right place to unzip the wincodecs are to the directory of X:\ODIN\SYSTEM32 ... If you do unzip them to an other place, WarpVision would not find them if the program would need them... There are a few rules with installing in a nutshell: - First install (unzip) a Warpvision with a date in the filename - Start Video2.exe and all should working When there is someting wrong you could start from CLI with the log enabled.

Hi All The answer is that any video2.exe file from a "wvgui_latest.zip" package is *not* a PM application so displays a command window which it leaves onscreen. Hopefully the author will change that sometime... If you have the os2 toolkit you should be able to make the video2.exe into a PM app using exehdr.exe - but do not ask me for incantation. Might be worth sticking noses into http://news.gmane.org/gmane.org.netlabs.warpvision.general Regards Pete |
