I use two IBM Thinkpads: T30 and T40

IBM supports and encourages the use of OS/2 on these Thinkpads and OS/2 works very well. I have replaced my desktop system with the T30 and use the T40 for on-the-road work. Amazing machines, never have any problems with them.

Hi The OS2Guy,

Is there any white paper or supporting document from IBM on the above mentioned?

Thank you.

Best regards,
Arulthas.

A quick look through Google and I find information on the support of OS/2 for the T42 Thinkpad here:

http://www7.software.ibm.com/2bcprod.nsf/bf7e05615440e8f086256b6c005eac99/8de5ee8cbb9a009d87256e6e0058542e?OpenDocument

Here's support for the T30:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/site.wss/document.do?lndocid=MIGR-42358

VOICE offered an article on OS/2 and the T30 support:

http://www.os2voice.org/VNL/past_issues/VNL0103H/vnewsf4.htm

IBM also provided instructions on how to install Warp 3, and Warp 4.51 and 4.52 when the T30 was first released. Since that time the latest 'refreshed' release of 4.52 (aka 4.52B or 4.53) installs easily from Install CD. Note here: I installed v4.52, first release, using the Install CD without a problem on the T30 and the 'refreshed' release on the T40, again with no problems. OS/2 installed within 20 minutes.

Sadly, I was unable to get eComStation v1.1 to install on either machine but I'm sure that problem will be corrected with the upcoming eCS v1.2 (which was promised for release within the 2nd quarter of 04, not sure what the status is today).

Hope this helps!
