Is there an eCS driver that will work with this printer?

I can't say this authoritatively but it appears to be a win only printer.
I checked HP's drivers page for this printer and their is no ps or pcl drivers listed. Their is no mention of PS or PCL on their spec sheet. Only windows drivers are listed, no linux, OS/2, or Mac.
I would be very leary of it without seeing some reason to think it does in fact have PS or PCL support.

The prices is not bad - $300 - but the price of the cartridges - $75 for black and $83 for the other colors - make up for the price.

Would this work with the Win32Prn Printers Project?

That I don't know but in its current incarnation win32prn does not support color. Assuming the project gets going under Mensys it probably will support color later on.

That will expand the number of printers OS/2 and eCS users can use. I look forward to color support.

I have downloaded the drivers for laser printers. It lists a driver for the HP LaserJet 1600C. Would this work with the LaserJet 1600?

I downloaded it from the membership download section of the eComStation site. http://www.ecomstation.com . It is this list that I am using (part of the zip file).

I would expect the 1600 and 1600C to be the same printer so maybe it will work on eCS but I don't know.

8. No eCS driver for Color laserJet 1600?
Reply to this topic with quote Modify your message
I think I mis read the list of supported color laserjets. I went back to find the HP color laserjets but could not find the one I thought I saw for 1600. There is a driver for the DESKJET 1600. I bought it the HP Color Laserjet 1600 at Staples for $300. I am trying different drivers to see what works for eCS and this printer; nothing so far. Not a total loss since I do have a WinPC.

The odd thing about this printer is that it came with only 'starter cartridges'; just enough toner in the cartridges to last about two weeks (depending on the amount of printing one does). When I bought it, I was asked if I needed cartridges. The cartridges are not cheap; around $70 each.

9. HP LaserJet 1600 recognized with USB Print and eCS
Reply to this topic with quote Modify your message
When I first plugged in the color laserjet 1600, the usb print program recognized the printer as a hp_color_lj_1600_2. The older Canon S300 was on the first USB port.

I tried the HP Color laserJet printer dirver but it did not print anything when I sent a picture to the printer.

10. Driver for eCS that is compatible with HP LaserJet 1600 and eCS?
Reply to this topic with quote Modify your message
Is there a driver for eCS that is or can be used with the HP color LJ 1600? I am trying different drivers but none seem to work (still trying). What is a similar printer that works with eCS?
