It seems to mee that this is the item that Bob in october talked on the eCS-mailinggroup...
==========================================================
We are ready to conduct an inital alpha byinvitation, only. Those who wish to participate need to send an email with your hardware configuration and some info about your software and usage. We will create a specific email id for this purpose, haven't done it, yet.We expect to go to a larger beta before the end of the year. The beta
will focus on the Linux host (or Free BSD host), though the Windows
host is available. But that product is already available for a trial
download from Parallels, the developer site,
http://www.parallels.ru/2os2.shtml#oses
There will likely be a small charge for participating in the beta,
approximately $30. Participating in the beta will entitle the user to
a 50% off the SRP at GA, expected to be 2Q04.
The product plan currently projects 4 CDs.
CD1, FreeBSD with FreeBSD VM
CD2, a Linux distribution with Linux VM
CD3, eComStation - OS/2, and Windows host, no OS included -or-
CD3-4, essentially the eComStation Entry product with Windows and
eComStation-OS/2 host.
Pricing is projected at $199 for the CD set, with a license which
restricts the user to running one hosted version at a time. However,
a user who has multiple OSs on multiple bootable partitions, would be
able to install the host vms on the appropriate partitions .. only
boot and use one at at time. <g>
The Windows host has been around for awhile and used in enterprise
accounts. The Linux, FreeBSD, and OS/2 hosts have been developed under
a joint development and distribution agreement with Netsys. These
products a less mature, but actively under development ... we'll get
there.
Guest support includes the expected Windows versions, Linux 2.2 though
2.4 may work, Warp 3 and Warp 4.
Should be fun.
