I've been running now for well over a year with 11mb network for my eCS laptop and would like to hope that there are some well working new mPCI hardware available for OS2. Does anyone have any suggestion for what to look at and/or will there be any card supported in the near future in GenMac drivers?

Hi,

Look for cards that uses chipset from Atheros, they are reported to work well with Genmac and XWLan. Is available as part for Thinkpad T-series that are shipped without WiFi. On the other hand, Thinkpads shipped with WiFI uses cards from Intel and they are reported to give lot of troubles so far. Don't buy any Intel card until the problems are fixed!

Well, it seems like that there is mPCI using the Atheros chip available; so question is have anyone tried this card out:

Wistron CM9 Atheros miniPCI

Wistron CM9 Atheros 802.11a/b/g Dualband mPCI 5004chipset
This card is using the Atheros 5004 chipset with the 5213 as main chip.

- Super GTM and Super A/GTM deliver wired speeds with backward compatibility
- Supports 802.1x, AES-CCM & TKIP, Power Saving Mode, 64/128/152-bit WEP Encryption
- Wi-Fi Compliant
