Since the multimedia section has been updated at the ddk section of IBM, someone could use it as a way to update multimedia for OS/2?

Everything on DDK that gets updated makes it into OS/2 through fixpacks or device driver fixpacks. The only update in all the multimedia code as far as I know is a fix for timer0.sys, most likely the last update ibm made for the pentium4

Not having to rely on Software choice for updates is nice especially one decides to create their own 'update' of multimedia (not being a programmer, it would probably not be me but some one who is a programmer wanting to use it in their own program or upgrade their system).

I believe releasing binaries based on the free source would be violating the contract w/ ddk

If releasing binaries based on the free source is against the 'contract', why is the source released? What purpose is the source code if one can not compile it and release the binaries? if a company used it to create drivers for their product, they could not allow someone to download it free for the product they bought? I am puzzled by your statement. Please explain it.

The review of eCS 1.1 implies that the multimedia/mmos2 has been updated. Is there more information on it?
