1. Asus K7V motherboard USB support under Warp 4.52 |
|
|
| I noticed that all of my USB drivers, etc. are commented out in my CONFIG.SYS... I have direct USB support with this motherboard... my question is this: does anyone know where I could find the USB onboard connector dongle thingie that connects on the motherboard to provide the USB ports and if USB is enabled on the motherboard and in the BIOS, can I simply uncomment those drivers and get USB support? Reason why I'm asking is that I finally bought a little 128MB USB thumb drive and would like to use it under OS/2. I'm slowly rebuilding another computer to use as my personal machine running Warp 4.52. Thanks! |

| I tried to find the board at Asus homepage and the closest I found was K8V. Reason for asking is that I'm wondering if it's a board with Intel chipset, since that would help out. I've only had problems getting boards to run USB under OS2 when they use either SIS or VIA chipset. |

Good question... I don't think it uses either of those-I do believe it's a VIA chipset. I did have Warp running perfectly on this motherboard before, so I don't think I'll have any problems with it... the motherboard is extremely popular-check out http://www.k7v.com about it (just did a Google search on it). I need to find that little connector, then I can see what's going on. |

Running OS2 on the board is no problem, but did you also get the USB to work proper? Since I have had only problems getting to work proper on SIS based boards. The USB drivers indicates that it works as it should, but I never got any devices to work. Lifting the disk over to an Intel based board with the same hardware config - USB worked as it should. |

hausmaus (24 Nov, 2004 01:11): A good pic and short description of the board:http://www6.tomshardware.com/motherboard/20000507/kx133-08.html It's just the USB connector that I'm looking for.
Ah ok, well, I have had the same problem finding the extra spare items from Asus here in Sweden as well. Within the manual there is usually said that there are a number of add on features (hardware) that can be added but there is no one here in sweden selling this stuff. What I did was to buy the usb bakplan from another vendor and just maked sure that the cable was pin combatible and most of the time it standard so there shouldn't be any problem. If you check the picture on the additional USB connectors there is a ribbon cable that goes down to the motherboard, isn't this kind of connector on your board?

I think so-it's the same one... I'm off next Thursday and Friday-I'll go look then for possible places locally to find USB connectors... (hate working in retail over the holidays here in the States-never get any time off...) |
