"Don't Believe the Hype: The 21 Biggest Technology Flops" Among the items to vote for, OS/2 is listed. I do not think it should have been listed. It was not 'overhyped' but 'underhyped' by IBM. I am hoping eCS will do better.

"Your Votes Tallied: The Biggest Tech Flop of All Time" I am glad OS/2 only received 2% percent of the vote.

I sent them feedback to let them know of the current status of OS/2 in eCS. I said OS/2 is the catepillar that becomes the eCS butterfly. I have a drawing I did where the cocoon has OS/2 on it and the emerging butterfly has eCS on its wings.

Nice to see that Microsoft Bob has taken the first place so far in the mentioned poll.

Even though I am a huge fan of OS/2, I'll have to admit it was a flop ... a marketing flop. At the time OS/2 was the only real 32 bit contender. It was a technical marvel in it's day. When Windows 95 came out, it was a technical Frankenstein, a mix of 16 and 32 bit code. In all honesty, who came out on top? I'll admit it was a flop, even though it pains me to say it. Anyways, that is all behind us. After all we have a great community here. What we have together is more important than any stupid journalism about technical flops. You know what they say about opinions ... they are like @ssholes. Everyone has one.

True the marketing was a disaster but not the product; but compare with Microsoft Bob; now that is a truly shitty product that Microsoft really pushed to the market. So there is after all a difference betwen flops and flops.

Thanks cyberspittle. This could not possibly have been stated better. How true!

I believe that the marketing person responsible fro Bob was one Melinda French, better known these days as Melinda Gates.

In the feedback section, there is mention of who created it.

I left feedback and sent an e-mail to the author.
