Are anyone aware of rexx script or applikation that can be used to monitor if the public IP has been changed and if so execute the application used to update DynDNS.org with the new assigned IP?

DynDNS.org list two OS/2 clients on their site. They are on <http://www.dyndns.org/services/dyndns/clients.html> (select "Other" for the OS). Both appear to be Rexx programs. There are also Java, PHP, Perl and other clients that might work to.

I'd also look on hobbes. There is at least one client of this type there, but, it might not be for DynDNS.org.

Well, I'm using the dns alias client to be found at Hobbes. But instead of running it everytime I'm restarting the server or running the rexx script by hand when the router, that holds the public IP, has been updated with a new public dynamic IP. It would be of interest if there would be, yet another feature or script that would be able to figure out when there is a need to send update to DynDNS.

I haven't tried out the script links that DynDNS offers, but might be so that some of the scripts available there might solve above.

Does JIP DNS also once a while check if the public IP has changed or not? Since in my case I always gets a new IP if I restart the router and sometimes the ISP forced a change as well. That's the reason why ask.

I had not thourght of having the DynAlias-Net script doing an update behind the scenes like you suggest. I'll have a think about it and see if it's feasable.

Yes, I leave it running in the background and it checks every so often and updates as need be. I believe the interval is configurable.

I also have a dynamic IP address, (hence DYNDNS), and JIP takes care of everything for me... except for the dishes... I still have to do those... and it refuses to take the dog for a walk... but, it will do the windows.

Thanks! I totally missed out JIP and it seems from what you have said and as well mentioned within the online documentation by far the best dyndns client available for os2.
