| The first question: Is the disk really full? That depends on the filesystem and also on the application that reports "disk full". 1. If the disk is larger than 8G then check: 2. It can also happen (in the case of OS/2 warp v. 3 and 4) that the system runs old drivers which cannot handle disks larger than 8G. Also in this case, only the first 8G of the disc is used and the rest is unaccessible. 2. See what is reporting "disk full". 3. Suppse it's not the case and that the disk is really full. The fastest way to detect this case is opening a drive on the HD or listing some (does not matter which) directory at the OS/2 promt. Atthe end of the listing, you will get a "statistics", which will tell you how many of the disc is occupied and how many of the disc is free. You cannot delete too many things from the system but the system occupies only about 400M of the disc so that the rest must be user apps and data. You will delete (archive, move away) these apps and data. Then decide what to do next. |

What version of OS/2 are you using? What fixpack? What is the size of the disk? How old is the computer OS/2 is on? This determines whether it has USB support and CDRW capabilities. What is the machine used for? What is creating the files that are filling up the hard disk? Can they add another hard drive to the system and move some of the data files over there? Again, what is creating all the files filling up the system? |
