| It might be so that you're are not a member of any OS2 uesr group for any reason. Can be that there isn't any user group around in there area of your location or just that you feel that you won't get any value for the money. |

No, it's because I don't believe in joining groups or clubs. I don't feel the need to 'belong' Cheers Wayne |

Actually, I've been to one meeting of the local muser's group (Long Island OS/2 UG), but as they're not very active, I haven't been motivated to go any further. Lewis |

| To some, joining a club or user groups fills a need to belong (which why some people seem to have a need to join gangs). To others, joining a club or user group is more for mutual support of an interest or hobby shared by others. I joined for the latter and not the former. A coffee club is a group who enjoy coffee. A users group is a group who enjoy using a certain software/program and/or operating system. I guess it depends on how one defines 'user groups' and 'clubs'.

There are none in my general area (there area couple but they would take driving over two hours in one direction to get to them). The online 'user groups' makes more sense to me.

There isn't any locally. RMOS2 went inactive at least a year ago. |

| Hi all, to those who want to join an OS/2 user group (for whatever reason) but are lacking a local group to do so, there's still VOICE ("Virtual Os/2 International Consumer Education). We have no actual "real" meetings ("only" via IRC) and you don't actual need to be a member to read the newsletter or to use Warpdoctor, so the "only" benefits of being a member are: 1) rebates on selected software packages (get in contact with the treasurer of voice for details) 2) a "good conscience" as the membership fees cover costs for participating in the organization of the Warpstock events Some months ago, I got a message from a reader of the newsletter stating that he was able to finally find the right NIC driver for his wife's PC thanks to what I wrote in an article of the newsletter, and...: "This almost was worth the one-year membership". Although authors, translators and editors are working for "free", the membership fees actually help us to provide hardware and software needed to publish the VOICE newsletter (in parts at least). This is not intended to be any advocacy for VOICE or persuade people to become members - just a reminder that IF you've got no local user group but are desperately seeking one to join, this might be of interest. For more information take a tour at the VOICE site: http://www.os2voice.org Greetings Thomas |

I totally agree with what you said. PS If OS/2-eCS is able to become the desktop os of more people as a result of OS/2 VOICE, then there might be more in your area that us it and the cost/membership fee would be worth it.
