1. Warp 4 Internet via LAN via Modem/Router

I have used Warp3 on older PC's with Dialup and Ntscape 2.02 successfully.

I live in the UK and my ADSL Broadband is PPPoATM. I have several PC's on a LAN coneected to a combined modem/router which issues DHCP addresses.

I have a newer PC and Warp 4 plus a Fixpak CD, though I can install updates and Netscape 4.61 have been unable to connect to the Internet, even though I have a valid IP address from the modem/router. Basically it is stating it can not resolve the URL!!

If anybody could point me in the right direction would be grateful.

You need to put the DNS information into OS/2, since for some reason your DCHP is issuing the DNS information improperly or OS/2 is not configured to use the information.

Obviously, you have configured the interface to use DHCP?

Either way, it doesn't hurt to get the DNS address from your windows machine and enter it into OS/2, that should be all that it needs.

Hey RAP,

I am assumming you installed networking and the drivers for your network interface card (NIC). You probably need to check your networking setup and ensure TCP/IP is properly configured. Things to look for:

Gateway.
Nameservers.

I am guessing it is unable to resolve the route to your host. Did you assign a TCP/IP address (even though DHCP is used?). Can you ping the system from another one on the LAN? Please post any error messages (NET ####, etc.).

Thanks for reply, firstly setting to DHCP can ping other PC's on my LAN.

I have also entered manually the information from a WinPC regards gateway etcetc can still ping.

As to the NIC I use an Intel PRO100 Mangement and on the startup screen it is configured, followed by the resolving of an address from the modem/router.

Should of said there is a powered hub between my LAN and the modem/router, sorry.

I have successfully used MSDOS Network Client 3, DOS Packet Driver networking and internet access, Win networking / file sharing all by just stating I wish to receive an IP from the modem/router.

I agree it is not telling the modem/router to access the Internet.

Stuart, thanks for link, will do so shortly.....

As previously mentioned was thru a HUB, now have connected directly to the modem/router

which is setup as a dhcp server and receive the following message

"The server is not registeredwith your name server or you do not have a valid connection to the server. etcetc"

I use UK BT PPPoA protocol ans as stated all other O/S setups to obtain IP from DHCP work, wth does this not work, I am totally baffled!

Thanks in advance for any help, would really like to get this setup.

os2-uk-request@os2.org.uk

With the help of above we tried many things but in the end after a O/S reinstall and then installing/reinstalling fixpacks Netscape 4.61 just started to download internet pages over my LAN, Netscape 2.02 and WebExplorer will still not play ball, but at least I can get on the internet.

The mysteries of software!!!

Yuletide Greetings.............

It might be interesting to know what fixpaks were installed and which nic driver are you using. What does the DHCP Monitor utility tells you?

Hi

I have used 3COM905TX and an Intel Lan100 NIC's, eventually after installing everything was able to get it working once. As the install was a mess re-installed, and nothing worked.

My client has decided to go the eComstation route in the New Year as he feels rightly so that he will get support, which I can not offer.

Anyone want to buy Warp3 RED Floppy or Warp4 CD or Update FixPak CD...........?

I have updated my website and reluctantly archived OS/2 Page, have gone back to NT4 SP6A IE6.
