| I used a digigtal video camera (Classic DV400 - almost identical to a Mustek DV4000). It uses MMC cards. It is seen as an external storage connected via USB (I used a WinPC to download the videos but will be trying to download them via my eCS-PC). The problem is that WarpVision sees the .asf files and plays the sounds okay but the video part is all 'squishy'/mumbled. It froze WarpVision so I could not shut it down (I had to shut down and reboot the eCS 1.1 PC). Is there a way to convert .asf so it can be seen/played properly by WarpVision? Is there an OS/2 or eCS program that can convert it to mpeg or view/play it?

| Hi BWG, as far as I've understood from the docs, FFMPEG (open source project) should be able to do the conversion. Paul Smedley cares about the port of ffmpeg from linux and his website holds precompiled binaries for various ports - also for FFMPEG: http://smedley.info/os2ports.html ...but, ehh... are you sure that the .asf file itself is okay? Greetings |

| Hi Tom, Umm I agree with warpcafe ![]() ffmpeg may help as it's built with a newer libavcodec than the current warpvision binary... Cheers, Paul. |

| I went there, downloaded it and will give it a try. Thanks for the information and the link.

Simplest usage is: This will give you a crappy quality mpg - but at least confirm the asf is OK - then you can mess around wiht other settings to give a better mpg. Cheers, Paul. |

| Smedles, since you're here I'll ask you something more:I have a video file I downloaded. On the download page they said it was DivX. WarpVision plays it correctly, but my HW DivX player can't play it. So I tried to use your latest build of FFMPEG to convert it to something else, but FFMPEG couldn't recognize it. Would you like to have a look at the file, or should I contact the FFMPEG developers? It's 690Mb in size, but maybe just a fraction would be enough. Thankyou! Cris |

| Hi Cris, What's the output of ffmpeg -i filename.avi ? Best bet is to join the ffmpeg-user mailing list - or access the newsgroup via gmane. Might be best if I update cvs though and provide you with a current build - they get shitty if the code is more than a few days old Try it out with http://smedley.info/ffmpeg-049pre-20051002-os2.zip |

| Hi Paul, thankyou for the update!! When I get home this evening, I'll let you know about the output of FFMPEG on my video file. Thankyou! Cris |

| Hi Paul, some more data for you ![]() Here is the output of ffmpeg -i: (sorry for the word wrapping) Loading in WarpVision (which, BTW, plays it perfectly) reports: Time: 01:30:07 So it seems it has been encoded with ffmpeg!! What should I do? Is it a bug in the port or in ffmpeg? Thankyou! Cris |
