1. eCS Install

Hi!
I haven't been here for awhile, but am back with questions about installing eCS on my notebook.

I have booted from eCs CD 1, started an Advanced Install, and entered my registration data. Next screen is 'Select Installation Volume'. There are no volumes listed to select, much less any installable vloumes.

When I click the 'New Volume' button near the bottom of the screen, I get the following message:

'Disk 0 reports a corrupt partition table'

I cannot go any farther with the install. I do NOT want to do an fdisk if I don't have to due to having a lot of data--and hours of work--on my D,E,F,G partitions.

What do I do next??

Dennis

PS--All my partitions are formatted HPFS, including the 3012MB Primary-Startable-C1-partition. OS/2 4.0 13 is located on the C1 partition.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Hi Dennis

Warp4 fp13?

A non-LVM system?

Which version of eCS? - all versions use LVM which may explain the 'Disk 0 reports a corrupt partition table' message if the fdisk prepared disk has not been "converted" to LVM.

OTOH: Probably worth using a good tool such as DFSee www.dfsee.com to have a good look at the disk(s) ie check for and rectify any problems. DFSee is not free but works well in time limited demo mode. If it is of any help you should consider Registering it. Of course Registering DFSee will also get you help from the knowledgeable author if you need it.

Hope the above is of help

Pete

Hi, Pete!

Might be Warp 4 with fp 14...

What is LVM??? How do I convert to it??? EcS v1.2r

Have not yet done an fdisk. Also, I'm trying to install eCS over Warp4.

I'll look for dvsee and try it. I'm not sure what I'll see and/or how to fix it.

Dennis
